Information Architect at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crises, heightened readiness, and war.

We make Sweden ready.

Do you want to work to lead civil defense? Then you might be our next colleague!

We are looking for an information architect who can contribute to developing the agency's ability to use data as a strategic resource. The role is central to the work of business development and digitalization and aims to create long-term conditions for data-driven working methods, effective governance, and sustainable digital development.

The role is placed within the agency's IT and digitalization operations. With us, you will have the opportunity to help steer and develop the agency's information and data management while safeguarding the democratic values of society.

Your Responsibilities and Tasks

As an information architect, you will work cross-functionally to ensure that the agency's information and data are structured, accessible, understandable, and reusable – today and over time. You will collaborate with other competencies such as business developers, architects, archivists, lawyers, security functions, and IT.

You will work on mapping and structuring the agency's existing information assets and information flows, but also participate in projects where you may lead workshops on concept, information, and data modeling.

Your tasks also include:

  • modeling information and data (e.g., concept models, information models, and information domains)
  • analyzing and structuring business information to enable digitalization and data-driven decision-making
  • harmonizing concepts and structuring the management of master and metadata
  • supporting business development by linking business goals to data needs, data quality, and information flows
  • participating in agency-wide strategic work regarding the management of the agency's information and data
  • working to make the agency's open data accessible.

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is based on IASA's descriptions of architect roles for the digitized organization.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

  • relevant academic education or other education that we consider equivalent
  • several years of experience in mapping and documenting information flows and analyzing data in systems with complex dependencies
  • experience in information architecture, concept modeling, or master data work
  • the ability to communicate and document the results of your work
  • very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • experience from the public sector
  • experience in requirements gathering
  • experience working with open data in accordance with the Open Data Act.

In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the state value base. Like all employees and leaders with us, you are expected to act according to the agency's approach.

The approaches apply in everyday life, crises, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaborative – proactive - action-oriented.

Read more about our approaches here. (https://www.mcf.se/sv/om-oss/jobba-hos-oss/forhallningssatt-for-chefer-och-medarbetare/)

As a person, you are analytical, meticulous, and enjoy immersing yourself in and understanding complex environments and relationships, creating structure and order. You are communicative and enjoy working with others to achieve good results.

About the Employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your workplace will be Karlstad or Stockholm, and travel in the position may occur.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security review with a background check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are assigned to war duties.

About Us

The position is placed in the Information Management Unit, which belongs to the Business Support Department. The unit is part of the agency's central IT and digitalization operations, consisting of about 70 employees.

The task of the Information Management Unit is to steer, develop, manage, implement, and follow up on the registration, handling, disclosure, and storage of the agency's information. In total, we are just over 20 employees in the unit, located in both Karlstad and Stockholm.

We have activity-based offices where you can choose your workplace according to your needs. By agreement, there may be an opportunity to work part of the time remotely. We also offer you the opportunity to take wellness hours, and you will receive a wellness allowance. For you as a state employee, there are also favorable vacation conditions.

All of us who work at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are expected to contribute to increased gender equality and equal treatment for a work environment and a society free from discrimination.
