About the Organization
Sylteskolan is a F-9 school that includes both regular and adapted primary education.
The adapted primary school in Trollhättan is entering an exciting phase that will involve development and expansion of the operations with a clear focus on school development and increased quality throughout the students' school day.
At Sylteskolan, we work based on a common holistic view, value foundation, and a professional approach with the goal of creating safe learning environments and strong leadership in teaching. Clear routines, structure, and adaptation based on students' needs are guiding stars in our operations. We see diversity as an asset and inclusion as a given. In our teaching groups, many different nationalities are represented, and we teach students based on different curricula. Our ambition is to constantly develop ourselves and our operations with the goal of increasing students' goal fulfillment – both academically and socially as much as possible.
In the adapted primary school, we have students studying both subjects and subject areas. The school also offers leisure activities and short-term supervision. The entire school day of the student is important to create security, a sense of coherence, and a meaningful leisure time.
The activities of the leisure center and short-term supervision in the adapted primary school are in an expansive development phase, which is why we are strengthening our team with teachers in the leisure center. We are particularly looking for someone with good leadership qualities who wants to contribute to the development of the operations by driving systematic quality work and leading the organizational work in close collaboration with the principal and colleagues.
Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a qualified teacher in the leisure center who wants to contribute with both pedagogical and organizational leadership. You will lead the planning and implement the pedagogical activities for our students during leisure and short-term supervision. The assignment also includes contributing to the development of the leisure center by creating structure, following up on operations, and driving improvement work together with colleagues and management. You will work for good quality and consider the whole of students' learning both in the leisure center and in school.
Collaboration with teachers and student support staff regarding students' learning, participation, and influence is of utmost importance for our students' development. A certain part of the working hours may be allocated in the school, either as a resource educator or in a subject area.
You are well acquainted with the governing documents and feel secure in your professional role. It is an advantage if you have experience and competence in the area of disabilities as well as previous experience working in adapted primary education. Knowledge/training in low-arousal approaches and in AAC (alternative and augmentative communication) is an advantage. You focus on the student and have high expectations for both the operations and for yourself and your professional assignment.
It is important that you have a commitment and a calm and patient approach to meet students in situations that may arise. As a person, you are independent, flexible, and have a professional demeanor towards students, guardians, colleagues, and others you meet in your professional role. You are attentive, creative, and quality-conscious, and work in a structured and systematic manner. You have a good ability to lead the work in the team, create consensus, and contribute to clear communication in everyday life. Since collaboration between the leisure center and school is central, high demands are placed on collaboration skills, accountability, and clarity.
Your assignment also includes:
- contributing to the development and coordination of routines and working methods in the leisure center/short-term supervision
- driving follow-up, analysis, and improvement measures within the framework of SKA
- being a clear pedagogical leader and creating consensus around approaches, structures, and learning environments
- collaborating with the school and student health to ensure the whole and quality of the student's entire school day
What You Can Expect from the Position
- You will participate and drive development work in the leisure center and short-term supervision
- You will come to a school where the student is at the center.
- Get a principal who is genuinely interested in special education.
- You will participate in a context where the principal, special educator, teacher, and student support staff work together around the student to create a good learning environment that stimulates students' learning.
