Water Planner/Action Coordinator
We are looking for a water planner/action coordinator who wants to work with water conservation both through coordination and through concrete actions in the landscape. In this role, you will combine work in a water council with planning and implementation of wetlands and other water conservation measures for the city of Helsingborg. If you thrive in a role where collaboration, a holistic perspective, and practical implementation go hand in hand, this could be a position for you.
About the workplace
The Urban Planning Administration plans, builds, manages, and develops Helsingborg. We want to be smart and brave when developing our urban environments and green structures into places where people want to be. We are about 240 employees who work creatively and joyfully for a sustainable city that we and the residents of Helsingborg are proud of.
As a water planner, you will belong to the ÖP unit, one of five units within the Department of Urban Planning. The unit consists of 12 employees with different backgrounds and expertise in areas such as planning, ecology, climate, water issues, GIS, and social sciences. Together, we work interdisciplinary with both long-term strategies and concrete implementation projects that contribute to sustainable community development.
Job Responsibilities
As a water planner, you have a varied assignment where you divide your time between work for the Råån Water Council and assignments for the city of Helsingborg. The role involves both independent responsibility and close collaboration with others, and requires that you enjoy switching between driving issues on your own and working together with colleagues and external actors.
About half of your working time is dedicated to the Råån Water Council, a collaboration between the municipalities of Svalöv, Bjuv, Landskrona, and Helsingborg, as well as other actors such as drainage companies, LRF, and non-profit nature conservation. You are responsible for both administration and action coordination and serve as a cohesive link between municipalities, authorities, landowners, and other stakeholders. The work involves planning and leading meetings, being responsible for documentation and follow-up, and contributing to driving the water council's joint work forward.
The remaining part of the position involves working with the city of Helsingborg's own water conservation assignments, focusing on planning and implementing wetlands and other water conservation measures. You will drive projects from early ideas to completed facilities in close collaboration with colleagues within the city, external consultants, and other authorities. An important part of the work is to coordinate different competencies and interests, ensure that planning, financing, and implementation are aligned, and create good conditions for long-term operation. You will also participate in the department's work on water issues in urban planning.
The assignment includes preparing documentation, applying for state and EU-funded grants, and maintaining ongoing dialogue with relevant stakeholders. Projects are carried out both in urban environments and out in the landscape, providing ample opportunity for collaboration as well as independent responsibility.
What we offer
With us, you will have a meaningful assignment where you support our operations and contribute to shaping the future of Helsingborg. We offer a workplace where collaboration, development, and sustainability are in focus – a dynamic environment where you work closely with engaged colleagues within the community building process.
To promote your health and balance between work and leisure, we offer, among other things, up to 3,000 SEK per year in wellness grants, salary exchange for pension, satellite offices in Malmö, and the possibility of reduced working hours for those aged 63 and over.
Our office is centrally located in Helsingborg, near Helsingborg C, which provides good communication opportunities and a stimulating work environment. Here, you will work in an organization where innovation and social benefit go hand in hand.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a relevant academic education, for example, as a biologist with a focus on hydrology or limnology, or as an engineer with an environmental focus. You have a commitment to sustainability issues and see the city's ambitions in this area as a driving force in your work. You have several years of experience in water planning and in working with the implementation of wetland projects, preferably in contexts where multiple actors collaborate, such as water councils.
You are comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for driving processes forward, while also seeing collaboration as a prerequisite for achieving sustainable and long-term results. You thrive in roles where you work closely with colleagues from different parts of the organization, as well as with consultants, authorities, and other external actors. You have the ability to coordinate different perspectives, create consensus, and drive work forward even when conditions differ.
To succeed in the role, you need to have an understanding of both planning and implementation of water facilities, as well as a basic understanding of the urban planning process. You express yourself well in speech and writing and are comfortable using digital tools in your work.
A driver's license for a passenger car is a requirement as the job involves travel in the landscape. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
