Police Region North is the largest region in terms of area. The region consists of the four northernmost counties in Sweden and is organized into four police areas: Jämtland, Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland, which together are divided into 12 local police areas. Furthermore, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit, and the investigation unit, a regional office, as well as national departments represented in the region to support police operations.
The Västerbotten police area is one of the police areas in Region North and operates throughout Västerbotten County. At the police area level, there is an investigation section organized into serious crimes, surveillance, particularly vulnerable victims, criminal economy, and investigation duty. The investigation section also has station commanders and on-call investigation leaders.
We are now looking for you who want to work as a Station Commander and be part of the Investigation Section.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Station Commander, it is your responsibility to plan, allocate, lead, and follow up on the internal operations of the police area and local police area within the operational area. The tasks are based on operational responsibility and are grounded in the police area's problem picture.
In the role, you will lead part of the internal operations either on behalf of the chief or independently through assigned delegation. The role's mission and requirements are closely related to those of the direct leader, but the role does not have formal personnel responsibility. The role as a supervisor means that you coach, motivate, and support your employees and create conditions for them to reach their full potential.
As a Station Commander, you will be responsible for:
- Initially reviewing detentions that are not reviewed by the on-call investigation leader
- Being responsible for the detention facilities in the Västerbotten police area when this is not done locally
- Continuously reviewing the legal basis for detentions
- Remotely reviewing detentions when such routine is decided
- Being responsible for the detainee register
- Supervising detention guards and other subordinate staff
- Acting as a receiver and communicator of incident reports with priority 5 and related handling and administration
- Handling urgent staffing issues
- Managing general inquiries/visits at the reception, especially outside office hours
- Deciding and managing the administration of certain assistance requests
- Ensuring that operations are conducted according to the Police Authority's intentions and guidelines, efficiently, cost-conscious according to applicable legislation, regulations, and other rules
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- Swedish police degree, in accordance with the Police Ordinance (2014:1105) on training to become a police officer
- At least two years of relevant work experience in the police profession
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written
- Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written
It is advantageous if you also have:
- Experience in the relevant operational area as assessed by the employer.
- Relevant work experience in leadership
- Experience in investigative work
- Experience in external service
In the role of Station Commander, you will have many contact points and collaborate both within the police as well as with other authorities, such as social services and healthcare. Therefore, we are looking for someone with good collaboration skills and communicative competence, meaning you are attentive, clear, and can adapt your message according to the recipient and situation.
Furthermore, we are looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to structure information and create an overview of the work situation, as well as having a structured approach to work. You are flexible in your approach to which tasks need to be performed. The role requires you to be a secure person who can work independently as well as in a team.
You need to have the ability to make your own decisions with good judgment and solve the problems you encounter.
We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
