Lifeguard at Navet in Umeå

The Leisure Administration within Umeå Municipality aims to contribute to a good living environment by creating opportunities for an active leisure time with sports, exercise, recreation, and public health. The responsibilities of the administration include the operation and management of sports and leisure facilities, recreational areas, facilities for recreational boats, as well as initiatives within recreational fishing and outdoor activities. The Leisure Administration, through the municipality's joint Association Bureau, is responsible for the overall preparation, follow-up, and evaluation of the municipality's support for the association life, as well as strengthening contacts between the municipality's various representatives and the organized association life.

Navet is Umeå's largest swimming hall and experience bath located in the city center. We opened our doors in 2016, and in our modern facilities, we offer swimming, exercise, relaxation, and experiences for everyone. We have about 30 employees, and during the summer, staff are also allocated to Umelagun, which is a heated outdoor swimming pool adjacent to Nydalabadet's beach located at the northern end of Nydalasjön.

Your Responsibilities

In the role of lifeguard, you will work with our most important task: ensuring a safe environment and good service. Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• Swimming supervision
• Reception/other customer service
• Cleaning
• Swimming instruction
• Relaxation host with sauna sessions
• Leading group training

In the reception, you are the face of our visitors, where you answer questions and sell subscriptions, single entries, and items from our shop. If necessary, you will also support our restaurant.

Heavy lifting may occur.

About You

We are looking for someone who is a good swimmer, has work experience in the service industry, and cash handling experience. We view it positively if you have experience working with children, as a swimming instructor and/or at swimming facilities. It is also a plus if you have worked with our booking system BRP.

We also consider it an advantage if you have training in any of the following:

• CPR/AED
• First aid
• Rescue
• Pool lifeguarding
• Pool manager
• Swimming instructor
• Food safety

Swimming proficiency is a requirement for the position, and during the recruitment process, you will undergo a practical test that consists of falling into deep water and then swimming 200 meters, of which 50 meters on your back and diving down to a depth of 4 meters.

As a person, you are service-oriented as you will act as a link between the customer and the facility. The pace can sometimes be high, so you are also resilient to stress and adaptable to rapid changes and unexpected events. You are comfortable working independently as well as in a team and have good collaboration skills. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Due to the law on suitability checks, a police record extract must be presented upon employment.
