About the workplace and the job

Do you want a meaningful part-time job where you make an important contribution to society and save lives? The rescue service in Vilhelmina municipality needs more part-time firefighters for the Vilhelmina and Dikanäs rescue stations.

Being a part-time firefighter, or emergency service personnel on standby as it is officially called, means that you make a significant contribution to the residents and businesses in the area where you live.

Job responsibilities and duties

Work within the rescue service consists of both preventive work and emergency responses. In your work, you meet people in a variety of contexts - often in difficult situations. Therefore, it is important that you have a willingness to help people, the ability to cooperate, and are stress-resistant.

Being a part-time firefighter means that you have another main employment but are on standby as a firefighter according to a specific schedule, normally every fourth week, and must be available around the clock to step into your role "when the alarm goes off". As a new employee, you will be a reserve in a group that may later transition to a regular position. You also participate in continuing education and drills (approx. 50 hours/year) that occur regularly within the corps.

The rescue service pays compensation for the time you are on standby, for the time spent on emergency responses, drills, and training.

Qualifications

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Healthy and have an approved physical status (treadmill test at the fire station).
  • Undergo a medical examination with an approved fitness certificate.
  • You need to be able to report to the station within five minutes of an alarm.
  • You need consent from your regular employer.
  • Availability for standby every 4th week.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language.
  • Swim proficiently.
  • Driver's license B (BE and C qualifications are advantageous). If you do not have a C license, you may receive financial assistance to obtain this after employment depending on need.

We place great importance on personal suitability.

We strive for diversity among staff regarding age, gender, and cultural background. Since the rescue service is a male-dominated profession, we welcome female applicants.
