Your Responsibilities
We are now looking for a mother tongue teacher in Italian. The assignment involves working with mother tongue instruction in primary schools across various schools in Linköping Municipality.
Mother tongue instruction is a voluntary subject with its own curriculum. The teaching aims to help students develop knowledge in and about their mother tongue. Students should be given the opportunity to develop their spoken and written language, gain knowledge about the structure of the mother tongue, and understand its significance for their learning in various school subjects. The instruction should be conducted in such a way that promotes students' personal development and strengthens their self-esteem. As a mother tongue teacher, you are responsible for planning, implementing, following up, and assessing knowledge based on the curriculum and grading criteria. Digital tools are a natural part of the teaching and documentation regarding the student's knowledge development. From grade 6, students receive grades in the subject of mother tongue.
Your Workplace
The Multilingualism Unit belongs to the Special and Support Operations area and has a municipal-wide responsibility for mother tongue instruction and study guidance in primary schools, adapted primary schools, secondary schools, and adapted secondary schools. Together with the schools, we have the mission to provide students with the opportunity to develop their multilingualism, multicultural identity, and competence, and to increase their goal fulfillment.
We are organized into work teams, learning groups, and language groups. Here, we can develop the operations together, exchange experiences, and support new employees.
Who You Are
You who are applying for the position have qualifications in mother tongue according to the Swedish National Agency for Education's definition, a teaching degree, and if the pedagogical education is foreign, it must be validated by the Swedish Council for Higher Education. It is also meritorious if you have 30 credits in the mother tongue. You should also have documented good knowledge in spoken and written form regarding the specific mother tongue.
You must be able to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish corresponding to SVA B, as the work involves being able to understand governing documents, participate in planning, documentation, and teaching materials in Swedish. Collaboration and communication with teachers in schools take place in Swedish. You should have experience teaching in Swedish schools and be familiar with the goals and values of the curriculum. You should have experience and knowledge in documenting and evaluating your work and be able to use various digital tools. Qualifications in more of the school's subjects are meritorious.
Since this position involves working in various contexts, you need to have good collaboration skills and the ability to create contacts. You have personal maturity and take responsibility for your tasks and are accommodating in your approach. You have a good ability to work systematically, plan, and prioritize among your tasks. Furthermore, you have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and can remain calm in stressful situations. Adapting the way you convey your message to the recipient is natural for you, and you strive to be a knowledge resource for others. You have the ability to see all students' different needs, consider their individual circumstances, and help students grow. You can build good relationships with both students and guardians as well as colleagues.
