We are now looking for a study advisor to the Office of Educational Sciences.

About the job

The position as a study advisor primarily involves providing support and guidance to both Swedish and international students entering and during their higher education studies at Linköping University. This position will consist of study guidance within several of the Educational Sciences programs and courses.

As a study advisor, you will be organizationally part of the Office of Educational Sciences (KfU) with about 40 staff members who provide operational support for Educational Sciences education at the undergraduate level, advanced level, doctoral education, and research. The office is represented at two campuses, and your workplace will be at Campus Valla in Linköping.

Study guidance in Educational Sciences - The work includes study guidance and study support activities for individual students and groups of students in one or more of the teacher programs. This occurs through individual guidance conversations, information about the studies and their structure, work with academic introduction for new students, follow-up on academic results, if necessary, the development of individual study plans, and support in matters related to future employment. Daily work also involves close collaboration with program directors, assisting them with qualified study administrative tasks, as well as collaboration with other administrative staff. The work is characterized by an annual cycle that requires good planning and includes periods of high workload. Processing and administration are part of the main tasks.

The position may also involve external contacts with, among others, the labor market, and it includes contacts with internal stakeholders at Linköping University. As a study advisor at the Office of Educational Sciences, you are also expected to be able to step in and work with other administrative tasks than those you normally work with, as needed.

About you

As a person, you take responsibility for your work, are self-driven, and move it forward. You are engaged and enjoy working with young adults, have a knack for learning and absorbing new information. The work involves close collaboration with program directors and other administrative staff, which means you should have good collaborative skills. The work is characterized by a clear annual cycle with periods of high workload, making it important to have the capacity to handle work under time pressure. Personal qualities are highly valued to ensure you fit into the environment in which you will operate.

We want you to have:

  • A degree in study and career guidance or a degree in behavioral sciences.
  • Documented good knowledge of conversation and guidance methodology or other equivalent work experience.
  • The ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and English.
  • Documented good computer skills and system understanding.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Previous experience in study guidance.
  • Good experience speaking in front of larger groups.
  • Experience from administrative work beyond the above.
  • Previous experience working at LiU.

Your workplace

As a study advisor, you will be organizationally part of the Office of Educational Sciences.

You will be part of a program team and the functional group for study advisors within KfU. Together, you will be part of a network of study advisors at LiU, thereby contributing to the development of the group and the profession at the university.

About the employment

Permanent position, full-time.

Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.
