Job Description

Are you someone who enjoys taking high-level technical responsibility, driving architecture forward, and coaching others? AFRY is now looking for a Solution Architect who wants to contribute to shaping the future solutions within embedded systems, IoT, and digital ecosystems. This is a strategic and leading role, where you work closely with clients and development teams — focusing on holistic design and technical leadership.

Your main responsibilities

Architecture & Technical Direction

• Be responsible for system and solution architecture in complex embedded and IoT projects.
• Translate business and customer needs into architectural decisions and technical roadmaps.
• Ensure that the solution adheres to the right design principles, security requirements, and scalability goals.

Leadership & Coordination

• Act as a technical leader for the development team.
• Coach developers, drive technical discussions, and guide the team in the right direction.
• Make decisions regarding technology choices, structure, quality, and risk management.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Be the primary technical contact for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in requirements analysis, solution discussions, estimates, and the preparation of technical documentation (RFQ, solution proposals, architecture documents).
• Collaborate closely with project managers and product owners.

Quality & System Integrity

• Ensure that development follows the architecture and established guidelines.
• Define overall testing strategies, integration, and system quality.

Qualifications

Your Background

• Solid experience in system architecture within embedded systems, IoT, or distributed systems.
• Understanding of modern technologies such as C/C++, C#, embedded Linux, microcontrollers, cloud architecture (e.g., Azure), and relevant communication protocols.
• Good overall understanding of software development processes, lifecycle, testing strategies, and quality assurance.
• Experience in technical leadership, coaching, or tech lead responsibilities.
• Fluent in English.

Desirable

• Experience from client-facing roles, e.g., requirements work or technical sales.
• Experience with modern working methods such as Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps principles.
• Previous responsibility for larger system solutions or product architecture.
