About the unit

The Air Force's Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion is tasked with air surveillance of Swedish airspace and leading combat aircraft. The battalion operates around the clock, year-round from facilities across the country. The Air Defense Company is responsible for protecting the facilities of the Air Defense Battalion.

The main task of the Air Defense Company is to detect, locate, identify, and counter security threats against the Air Force's command systems. The Air Defense Company consists of Air Defense Platoons, all of which utilize dogs, technical sensors, vehicles, and various types of weapon systems to accomplish the task. The Air Defense Company is characterized by flexible and mobile operations over large areas in small units, capable of operating throughout the country in all seasons and at all hours of the day. We operate under varying physical and psychological conditions and therefore place high demands on our employees' physical abilities.

Main tasks

The company is looking for security soldiers for their continuously serving platoons. The platoons are based at F 16 Uppsala but have areas of operation that can vary across the country. As a serving security soldier, you are expected to handle varying working hours and task conditions. You should be able to be away for extended periods and be prepared to address urgent tasks as they arise. Uncertain task conditions require continuous security awareness, as well as responsibility and initiative from each employee. The position involves both frequent training activities and urgent national, and sometimes international, missions.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Completed current military basic training with a passing result. Alternatively, an ongoing GSS/K service.
• Meets FM FYSS requirements, bronze level according to the “FM performance test” table. Tests are conducted before employment.

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team in a routine but varied work environment. You are flexible, responsible, and actively work to solve the group's and platoon's assigned tasks and your personal development. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

DESIRABLE

• Driver's license B
• Military training, e.g., group medic, group leader training
• Military driving licenses, weapon and sensor training
• Appointed military guard or military police
• Current experience in security service.

Employment form: GSS/K, the position is a fixed-term employment for up to 12 years. A probationary period of 6 months may apply.
Employment rate: Full-time
Work location: Uppsala. The company also operates in other locations, which may involve occasional business trips.
Working hours: Mainly daytime. Evening and weekend work may occur during training activities.

Uppland Air Wing, F 16, is headquartered at Uppsala garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and surveillance of Uppsala Airport as well as training conscripts in various positions within the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, which commands combat aircraft in the air and manages the constant surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several locations across the country and constitutes an important part of the growth period the Air Force is facing.
