The Swedish Armed Forces Intelligence and Security Center (FMUndSäkC) is now seeking a teacher in imagery intelligence for the Education Unit's Imagery Intelligence Department, located in Uppsala.

The Education Unit
The Education Unit meets the Armed Forces' need for intelligence and security personnel through method and analysis training. The Imagery Intelligence Department trains the Armed Forces' Image Interpreters and covers recognition knowledge, image analysis, and intelligence photography. The department is in an expanding phase where additional teachers are being recruited to meet the Armed Forces' increasing need for image interpreters.

Main Responsibilities

  • The teaching team educates in combat force recognition and interpretation/processing of data from image-generating sensors at tactical and operational levels. The teaching team also educates on reporting and sharing data from both still images and moving images. The department's courses are aimed at personnel working with data from image-generating sensors, imagery intelligence in general, and advanced training for the Armed Forces' image interpreters.
  • As a teacher in imagery intelligence, your tasks will include:
    • Planning, preparing, conducting, and evaluating training and exercises, both individually and in groups
    • You will be responsible for maintaining your own competence and participating in developing your own function
    • Other tasks include supporting other subject-related tasks such as Operations Management (Open Skies)

The Position Offers

If you lack previous experience in imagery intelligence, you will first undergo training in the professional qualification courses; Basic Course and Advanced Course in Imagery Intelligence. The training takes place internally within the department and provides you with the skills you need to work as an image interpreter and teacher in imagery intelligence.

Once you are fully trained in your own education regarding imagery intelligence, there is also the opportunity to participate in international training as well as internal training within FMUndSäkC's educational areas.

The department also has a close collaboration with the Air Staff's PED cell, which gives personnel the opportunity to practice in an operational environment as an intelligence officer and support NATO with interpretation and analysis of incoming imagery data.

Qualifications

  • Specialist officer exam
  • Normal color vision
  • Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • Driving license B

Meritorious

  • Experience in a teaching role and having trained employed personnel within the Armed Forces.
  • Previous service at air units at operational and tactical levels.
  • Experience with SRPAS/TRPAS
  • Experience with image-generating sensors
