The IT department of the Swedish Customs in Luleå is northern Sweden's largest employer in IT, with approximately 300 employees. About the Position

Starting in August 2026, you will participate in a six-month trainee program that promotes your personal development, broadens your network, and provides you with knowledge about our various operations. To enable the best possible introduction with us, you will participate in internal lectures together with other trainees, where you will gain a good understanding of the Swedish Customs IT department and its mission.

After the introduction, you will join your intended unit within the organization and continue to develop with your future team. You will be introduced to your future tasks, get to know your colleagues, and learn about the area's mission. Of course, you will receive support and guidance from your team to get into the job, and soon you will be one of the group.

To thrive as a trainee, you need to have a strong interest in digitalization, an understanding of digital transformation, and a personal drive to improve and develop. You enjoy learning new technologies, frameworks, and development methods. You will learn about our systems and platforms, our working methods, the culture we strive for, and the development and operation of the Swedish Customs' IT services.

Are You the One We Are Looking For?

We are looking for trainees in various parts of the organization. Depending on the role, you need to have either a degree from a post-secondary education in IT that is no more than 2 years old or other education/experience that we can assess as relevant for a trainee role in IT. After your trainee period, we expect you to work with us in one or more of the following areas:

  • Programming
  • Requirements and UX
  • System Integration
  • Application Platforms
  • Support
  • Infrastructure, Servers, and Operating Systems
  • Storage, Backup, and Databases
  • Network Security and Data Communication
  • Data Analysis

If you have not completed your education at the time of application and you are offered employment, any remaining courses must be completed and approved by the end of the probationary period.

The work involves many contacts both within and outside the Swedish Customs and requires that you, as a person, are good at building good relationships and have the ability to communicate and convey messages in a simple way adapted to the recipient.

You are driven to work in a changing environment and work independently, seeing what needs to be done and acting accordingly. You have a strong personal drive and possess excellent problem-solving skills that enable you to identify problems and develop solutions from a holistic perspective.
