Workplace Description

The main task of the IT department is to provide IT services to the entire Police Authority. The IT department is an important part of crime prevention and law enforcement work, and IT is one of the most important tools to streamline the police and improve the quality of police work. The IT department develops and manages the police's IT, and the authority invests heavily in strengthening the department with new specialist competence and the latest technology for the benefit of citizens and employees in the police operations.

The position falls under the Police Common Systems, which is responsible for providing common IT capabilities and IT support used across several police areas.

You will work in an engaged and knowledgeable team responsible for developing and managing in-house developed mapping applications used on multiple platforms – from desktop computers to police cars and mobile devices like iPads and iPhones. The team's applications are used daily by operational and strategic functions within the authority to create a geographical situational picture and make informed decisions in real-time and in critical situations. Job Description

Your colleagues include experienced developers, architects, project leaders, and UX professionals – all with high technical expertise in the development of geographic information systems (GIS) for iOS, Windows, and web.

Common tasks include:

  • New development of both frontend and backend solutions.
  • Maintenance and further development of complex systems with high security and performance requirements.
  • Actively contribute to technical guidelines and architectural choices to develop sustainable and effective system solutions.
  • Close collaboration, for example, through operational practice with end-users within the police operations to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.

The group is currently busy developing the next generation of mapping applications – modern, user-friendly solutions that will replace the current systems. You will be part of the work to create new products that make a real difference for the operations. You work closely with the operations and can be proud to be part of an area where technology and social benefit truly meet.

Your placement is in modern premises centrally located in Norrköping, and you have the opportunity to work from home up to two days a week. Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant academic education in IT, or equivalent acquired competence that the Police Authority assesses as equivalent.
  • Several years of work experience in system development with programming languages C# or Java that the employer assesses as relevant.
  • Work experience in system design and participation in discussions regarding system architecture.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

The position requires Swedish citizenship.

Desirable Competencies:

  • Work experience in development with programming languages and frameworks, such as JavaScript/TypeScript, SpringBoot, WinUI, or WPF.
  • Work experience in test automation and test-driven development.
  • Work experience with IT infrastructure components, such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Work experience in build automation, and experience working according to a CI/CD flow running on Jenkins.
  • Work experience in an organization with high security requirements, with a good understanding of IT security principles.
