to apply for the job
Every day, hundreds of cases and matters are decided in the courts across Sweden. Our organization consists of employees with various competencies, each of whom is significant in maintaining legal security and high quality at all levels.
To ensure an inclusive and fair recruitment process, the Swedish Courts apply competency-based recruitment. Our selection is based on candidates' competencies and merits. We kindly but firmly request no direct contact with staffing and recruitment companies or sellers of additional job advertisements.
The Göta Court of Appeal is one of the country's six courts of appeal, and our main task is to review cases and matters that have been appealed from the district courts within the jurisdiction. The jurisdiction includes the district courts in Örebro, Norrköping, Linköping, Skaraborg, Växjö, Kalmar, Eksjö, and Jönköping.
At the Göta Court of Appeal, there are three adjudicating departments, one preparation department, and two main hearing departments. The preparation department includes our secretariat, and there is also an administrative unit. Our workplace is characterized by an open and welcoming climate with a total of just over 110 employees. The court's operations are conducted in a new courthouse building with bright and fresh facilities by the shores of Munksjön in central Jönköping.
Are you interested in applying your theoretical knowledge and gaining practical experience in legal work at a court? We are looking for someone who wants to try a responsible and socially important job in an organization characterized by high quality and a pleasant working atmosphere.
We offer
By working as a summer law clerk, you will gain good insight into the operations of the court of appeal by participating in hearings and the preparation of cases and matters. You will write proposals for judgments and decisions, present cases and matters, conduct legal research, and write briefs for main hearings. You will, of course, receive guidance and support from a mentor appointed from among the court's clerks.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is studying at the law program and has at least one semester left of the program after the employment period. A completed and passed course in procedural law at the start of employment is a requirement. You should have good grades from your education, be meticulous, and enjoy collaborating with others. You should also be good at independently organizing your work and have good communication skills in both speech and writing.
Applicants without previous court experience will be prioritized.
To be considered for employment, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means that you uphold democratic values and the state values that govern the operations of the Swedish Courts. We require that you comply with applicable laws. Before a decision on employment, a background check may be conducted.
Please attach a personal letter, transcripts, and any other necessary documents.
