Accountant at the Swedish Council for Higher Education

Do you want to work in an organization that creates opportunities for education, development, and exchanges both nationally and internationally?

The Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) is a government agency with a broad mandate in the field of education. Our vision is education, exchange, and development - for everyone who wants to move forward.

We are now looking for an Accountant to the finance unit within the department for operational support.

The department for operational support is responsible for agency-wide issues, processes, and regulations, as well as for cross-agency support and operational development. The department is divided into five units, of which the finance unit is one.

The finance unit's mission spans the areas of accounting, budgeting, monitoring, and procurement. The unit serves as UHR's cohesive resource for financial management. We support the managers in the organization with budgeting and forecasting and are the agency's responsible function for procurements. Together with your new colleagues, you will be responsible for fulfilling the entire unit's mission area.

Your Responsibilities

As an accountant, you will work with and be responsible for:

  • Ongoing accounting and reporting in connection with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Project accounting for our international project commitments
  • Reconciliation of balance accounts
  • Fixed assets, depreciation, loans, and repayments
  • Tax declaration and VAT reporting

Other typical tasks in the finance area may also occur. We ensure that we have backup for each other's areas within the unit. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to work with tasks and be responsible for processes across the entire unit's area from daily accounting issues to monthly monitoring.

Other tasks may also occur.

Who You Are

You have:

  • A university degree in finance or equivalent education/experience deemed equivalent by the agency
  • Several years of experience in accounting and financial statement work within government operations
  • Good knowledge of Excel

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience with the financial system Unit4 ERP (Agresso)
  • Experience in project accounting for international programs

To succeed in the role of accountant, you need to:

  • Be meticulous and analytical
  • Be self-sufficient and have a good ability to plan for the tasks within your area of responsibility
  • Be communicative, pedagogical, and service-oriented as you will have a lot of contact with the organization's managers and employees regarding financial issues
  • Have excellent collaboration skills

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

What We Do and Offer

UHR has several missions in the field of education, the common denominator of which is to create opportunities for development through education and international exchanges. We have about 320 employees in Stockholm and Visby. UHR's goal is to be an attractive employer where employees and managers work together for long-term development. We offer a professional and stimulating environment with good opportunities for personal development. We are committed to a recruitment process free from discrimination and do not see further adjustments as a hindrance.

The employment is full-time and permanent, with start date by agreement. UHR applies a six-month probationary period. The place of employment is Solna.
