Do you want to be part of creating that space and the forms that allow young people to participate and have influence in their daily lives and in society?

We have colleagues on parental leave at Unga påverkar and are now looking for a substitute for eight months, from April to December.

As a youth consultant at Unga påverkar in Nordost, you will work together with your colleagues using a variety of methods to ensure that young people living in Nordost feel that their opinions and desires matter, and that they know how to influence. Participation is one of the cornerstones of all our youth meeting places. Together with children, youth, and staff, you will work to ensure that youth activities are guided by and characterized by young people's participation and influence, developing and creating forums and systems for youth participation.

Your main tasks will involve increasing the influence, participation, and impact of children and youth through various forums, such as the two youth councils in Angered and Östra Göteborg, dialogues with politicians, Young City Developers, and Youth Parliament. We have young ambassadors and leaders in the organization whom you will supervise, and you will organize and lead summer jobs focused on democracy. You will engage youth from a salutogenic perspective. We prefer to work in co-creation processes and strive for high youth participation.

You will work on different levels and based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child. You will collaborate extensively within our youth meeting places in Nordost, at the schools' afternoon activities "Lights on," and in various networks with other professionals and stakeholders in both Nordost and the entire city of Gothenburg. You will be the one who keeps an eye on global trends regarding children's and youth's influence so that we can incorporate this into our leisure activities in Nordost.

You will be responsible for leading, driving, coordinating, and developing forums, participating in collaborations and networks to generate ideas that increase young people's opportunities for influence and impact. Evening work is included in the position. As a substitute, you will work with the summer job "Camp Democracy," our participation in Frihamnsdagarna, the election to the Youth Parliament, and the election-strengthening work ahead of Sweden's elections in the fall.

Qualifications

You who are applying have a university degree as an educator, behavioral scientist, social scientist, or another qualification deemed equivalent by the employer. You have solid competence in social issues and politics and have gained good knowledge of democracy, children's rights (the Convention on the Rights of the Child), and human rights through your education.

You have worked with youth in some capacity and are comfortable interacting with them. It is also considered an advantage if you have previously worked with process management/project management and are confident in leading and motivating young people, speaking in front of groups, and driving operations and method development. In the role of youth consultant, you need to have a good demeanor, starting from the equal value of all individuals, and create a positive atmosphere in meetings while showing respect and consideration for those you encounter in your professional role.

You are collaborative, driven, and pedagogical, taking initiative and responsibility for moving the work forward, whether you are working alone or with others. You understand the common mission, act accordingly, and contribute to the whole. Furthermore, you have the ability to explain problems and information to different audiences and from different perspectives. You encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement.
