We are now looking for a counselor for Skutehagsskolan F-6.

The position is a temporary contract during the spring term of 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Warm welcome to Hisingen School Area 9. Our schools are located in southern Torslanda, a stone's throw from the sea with beautiful nature. Our school area consists of four schools with a total of five units.

Hjuviksskolan and Hällsviksskolan are two smaller units with 135 and 100 students respectively. Skutehagsskolan is a larger school with about 600 students distributed over two units. Nordlyckeskolan is our secondary school with about 430 students. Currently, there are about 1300 students in our school area and we have 130 staff members who work together to provide the best conditions for learning for the students in the area. The school leadership team consists of a principal and four assistant principals.

Responsibilities

You will be part of an engaged work group that prioritizes students' learning and development. Together, we create stimulating and varied learning environments that support students' curiosity and desire to learn. Here, you will find colleagues who are skilled at building good relationships and want students to be involved.

As a counselor, you will be part of the school's student health team and contribute with psychosocial expertise at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In student health, you will collaborate with the school nurse, special educator, special teacher, school psychologist, school doctor, and assistant principals. The team's mission is to work together with school leadership and work teams to promote health and prevent issues to strengthen students' opportunities to achieve their goals. As a counselor at Skutehagsskolan, you will also have two other counselors working in the school area as colleagues.

Your responsibilities include participating in the school's ongoing values and safety work, support conversations, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consulting with staff, and interventions in groups/classes. You will also collaborate with external actors such as social services, habilitation, UPH, and BUP. You will conduct school social investigations and assessments before receiving students in adapted primary school and investigate student absences. You will document your work in PMO. You will also prioritize your interventions together with school leadership and other student health staff.

Within the Primary School Administration, you will participate in professional meetings once a month with counselor colleagues and professional developers and take part in external supervision. As a new counselor, you will also receive an introduction and a mentor. Counselors in the Primary School Administration follow a common assignment description.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or equivalent higher education. The role also requires you to have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing. You should have a good understanding of the Social Services Act and the Education Act. We would like you to have experience working as a counselor and experience working with children and young people. The following are also meritorious:

• experience working in social services
• experience with promoting and preventive measures
• training in conversation methodology/supervision

As a person, you are stable, empathetic, unpretentious, and confident in your professional role. You have a strong commitment to the psychosocial situation of children and young people and the ability to meet people in various life situations. You facilitate children's storytelling and contribute to highlighting students' participation and perspectives.

You find it easy to build relationships and are professional and respectful in your interactions with students, guardians, and colleagues. You have an interest in working in a pedagogical environment and in teams with different professions to lead health-promoting and preventive work for students' development and to inspire thoughts and work. In your work, you are structured and clear and have the ability to take initiative and make decisions within the framework of your assignment.

The professional role requires a high degree of collaboration skills, independence, and personal maturity. You thrive on working with complex issues, see opportunities, and are creative. You remain calm in difficult situations and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure.
