The Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare of the highest quality.

Description

The Psychiatry operation at Kungälv Hospital consists of inpatient care, psychiatric emergency reception, psychiatric outpatient clinics, child psychiatric clinics, and specialized clinics for patients with eating disorders and patients with emotional instability.

Ward 9 is an inpatient ward focused on general psychiatry, psychosis, and eating disorders with 12 beds and two user-controlled beds, where patients largely take responsibility for their own care with support from staff.

Ward 10 is an inpatient ward focused on general psychiatry and addiction with 13 beds. The ward also conducts outpatient activities with medical detoxification and relapse prevention. The intention is to expand this activity to offer more patients follow-up in more open care forms.

Since spring 2024, we are located in new premises at Kungälv Hospital. We are looking for you who want to work in inpatient care and with the target groups described above.

Responsibilities

As a nurse, you will be responsible for psychiatric care. The patient's care plan is the guiding document, and the patient should be involved in its establishment. The care plan is then continuously evaluated throughout the patient's stay. We work with shared decision-making, and the care is person-centered.

Patients and relatives should be involved in the care. We also have a responsibility to provide support and information to minor children as well as to support patients in their parental role. The team around the patient includes not only nurses, caregivers, and doctors but also the inpatient care's social worker and psychologist. Care is provided in collaboration with neighboring care providers and social services. The working method is characterized by openness, responsible collaboration, and dialogue from the patient's perspective. The wards have a cognitive approach in their work. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with an interest in care focused on general psychiatry. It is beneficial if you have experience in psychiatric care, have a cognitive approach, and experience working with care plans. Your perspective should be characterized by concern for people and a good ability to work in a team. As a nurse, you will be involved in ongoing development work; currently, we are working to further develop cooperation between nurses in wards 9, 10, and the emergency reception. Our goal is to create a safe working situation with colleagues and other nurses in other units. An interest in developing collaboration should be present. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Clinical Foundation Year

For you who are newly graduated nurses/radiology nurses, a Clinical Foundation Year is included during the first year of your permanent employment. The Clinical Foundation Year includes lectures, process-oriented nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. It also includes shadowing in other operations so that you can gain a broader understanding of the hospital where you work. This is an investment made to give you the opportunity to further develop in your profession and build your professional identity.
