Folktandvården Västra Götaland has introduced the competence of Pediatric Dental Nurse in November 2024.

Pediatric Dental Nurse is one of several further education programs for dental nurses within Folktandvården Västra Götaland.

At the pediatric dentistry in Borås, both dental nurses and pediatric dental nurses currently work. All dental nurses in the unit will be offered an individual education plan to obtain the new competence as a pediatric dental nurse.

The education plan takes place during working hours and is funded by the employer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Specialist Clinic for Pediatric Dentistry is a referral center for the treatment of children and adolescents with increased dental care needs. Pediatric Dentistry and Orofacial Medicine Borås is located at Södra Älvsborgs Hospital, Borås. Across the street, there is all other specialist dental care except for Orthodontics, which is located in central Borås. Currently, about 30 employees work with us.

The clinic works with children and adolescents who have primarily been referred from general dental care, other specialist dental care, or healthcare. This may include patients with dental anxiety and caries, complex dental or medical diagnoses, as well as surgical procedures.

Collaboration with other specialist dental clinics and the hospital's operations constitutes a large part of our daily planning, which is why collaboration and rapid changes within our own clinic are a prerequisite. Assistance may therefore occur within orofacial medicine.

The position includes, among other things:

• Working with assistance from dentists during patient work both in the clinic and during anesthesia treatment.
• Working with your own patients during prophylaxis treatments, onboarding, oral health counseling, or acclimatization treatment.
• Clinic administrative tasks and other work occurring in the clinic.

Interviews are planned for weeks 6-7.

Competence Requirements and Profile

• Trained dental nurse with an approved education from MYH (Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education)
• Interest and experience in pediatric dentistry
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written
• Ability to create a safe and inclusive environment where all children and adolescents feel seen and heard
• Maintain a professional approach in interaction with patients by showing empathy, patience, and understanding of their needs
• Ability to use pedagogical methods, creativity, and flexibility to find the right approach in interaction with children and adolescents.

About the Recruitment Process

If you are not already employed with us, you will be contacted by a recruiter from the HR unit for an interview.
