Transport Coordinator for Medical Coordination of Air Ambulance

At the Flight Coordination Center (FKC), medical assessment, prioritization, travel planning, and coordination of patient transports for Swedish air ambulance are conducted. This work at FKC is carried out jointly by medical coordinators and flight coordinators.

The medical coordination at FKC is staffed by nurses around the clock and is organized as its own department within Region Västerbotten, belonging to Ambulance Services Västerbotten. The work location is Umeå.

The employment is a fixed-term position at 100% from June 2, 2025, to August 31, 2025.

Start date other than June 2, 2025, may be possible by agreement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a transport coordinator with us, you provide important service and enable efforts that affect many.

The tasks in medical coordination of air ambulance are varied and include, among other things, receiving orders for flight missions and coordinating air ambulance missions. The work consists largely of collaboration both in writing and verbally, where you communicate daily with, among others, staff at SOS Alarm, care departments, as well as personnel on air ambulances and ambulances throughout Sweden depending on the assignment.

As a transport coordinator, you will work alongside a nurse (medical coordinator). Your tasks include answering incoming calls and assisting the medical coordinator with the administration of incoming orders.

You will be offered training where you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the tasks. The work in medical ordering for air ambulance involves day, evening, and weekend work according to a schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has at least completed a high school diploma and has at least three years of work experience, preferably from work where the phone and computer are your main tools.

You are a person who enjoys logistics, planning, juggling multiple tasks, and being the spider in the web. The role involves collaboration with many different actors, which requires you to have good teamwork skills. You are a friendly and attentive person who finds it easy to talk to people.

You should be able to speak and write in both Swedish and English. It is advantageous if you master other languages besides Swedish and English. Furthermore, you should have good computer skills, particularly good knowledge of the Office package (Word and Excel). It is also advantageous if you have experience in healthcare, preferably in emergency care.
