About ABF

ABF is Sweden's leading and largest study association that has been conducting folk education activities for over 100 years. ABF is a federation consisting of about fifty independent units. ABF Umeåregionen is a department that spans Umeå, Bjurholm, Nordmaling, Vännäs, Robertsfors, and Vindeln municipalities. Our mission is to promote and conduct study, culture, and other educational activities together with our member organizations.

We are politically independent, but our activities are based on and should be permeated by the fundamental values of the labor movement, which is particularly evident among our member organizations, including the Social Democrats, the Left Party, LO, PRO, RFSL, and several associations within the disability rights movement.

About the position

We are now looking for a person with previous managerial experience, preferably from work within the non-profit sector, who can help ensure that ABF can continue its folk education activities for at least another 100 years.

As a non-profit organization, it is also very important for us that you share our and the labor movement's values.

Those applying for the position will be required to complete a practical work test related to our ongoing vision work and our idea program. Instructions for this will be sent to those we choose to invite for an interview.

ABF Umeåregionen and the entire study association world are undergoing a period of significant changes, which requires a manager with a flexible working style.

Main responsibilities

• Organizational development.
• Implementation and follow-up of board decisions such as operational plans, finances, and budgets.
• Overall responsibility for administrative and financial work.
• Internal and external funding.
• Personnel responsibility, leadership, and responsibility for the working environment and professional development of staff.
• Ensure quality assurance of activities and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Ensure that ABF's central guidelines and decisions are implemented.
• If necessary, represent ABF in the municipalities where we operate.
• Collaborate with the ABF district and the other two ABF departments in the county.

Your qualifications and background

• Post-secondary education.
• Driver's license (B) and access to a personal vehicle.
• Good ability to use digital tools for collaboration.
• Experience working as a manager.
• Experience in engagement within the non-profit sector.
• Experience within any of ABF's member organizations is an advantage.
• Leadership training is an advantage.

You are an inspirer with strong initiative who applies a trust-based leadership style. We expect you to have a strong ability to express yourself both verbally and in writing and that you are accustomed to using digital tools in your daily work.

Employment form

The position is a permanent employment with immediate start. We apply a six-month probationary period.
