Environmental and Building Inspector

Malå and Norsjö municipalities have a joint environmental and building department.

The department falls under the Malå/Norsjö Environmental and Building Board. The board is responsible for administrative matters in the areas of urban planning, construction, environment, emergency services, and traffic. Malå municipality is the host municipality for the board, but offices are located in both towns. The stationing location for this position is in Norsjö.

Job Responsibilities

The environmental and building department currently has 8 employees, including two building inspectors. The department is characterized by good cohesion and a positive atmosphere within the workgroup.

Since the municipalities are small, the position encompasses several subject areas, but the main focus is on construction and planning activities.

You will handle applications for preliminary decisions, building permits, building notifications, and supervision matters, as well as comprehensive and detailed planning according to the Planning and Building Act. The work also includes shoreline protection exemptions, maintenance and development of map data in our GIS program MyCarta, record keeping, and supervision of elevators and ventilation units, and traffic matters, etc. You will provide valuable information and guidance to the municipal residents. You will make independent decisions by delegation and write official documents.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with experience in building technical competence, education in building technology, building permit processing, or other education or experience that the employer considers equivalent.

We expect you to have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and be well acquainted with the Environmental Code.

Experience in administrative enforcement, previous experience in a similar position, and prior experience with the department's used software (EDP Vision, MyCarta) are advantageous.

Driver's license B required.
