We are now looking for

At least one experienced colleague for the Environmental Protection Unit who wants to work with supervision of waste facilities and other tasks related to waste management.

You will belong to

The Environmental Protection Unit is part of the Department of Environment and Nature. The unit handles cases related to contaminated areas and environmentally hazardous activities. The unit also has collaborative assignments with other regional actors in environmental protection, supervisory guidance to municipal inspectors, and works with government-funded projects related to contaminated areas.

Your tasks

• To work with supervision under the Environmental Code on environmentally hazardous activities, primarily in the waste sector.
• Provide supervisory guidance to municipalities.
• Participate in the County Administrative Board's preventive work regarding environmental crimes.

About your tasks

The tasks include supervision under the Environmental Code, and you will have supervisory responsibility for your own supervision objects. In the supervisory role, you will conduct supervision visits, handle cases, review and assess reports, write injunctions, and maintain contact with operators, consultants, municipalities, and the public.

In addition to supervision, other tasks related to waste management will also be included, such as providing supervisory guidance to municipalities and participating in issues related to mass handling and infrastructure projects.

Your interests, previous experiences, and the unit's mission may influence your tasks, and other parts of the authority's work may also become relevant in your role with us. As our work is in constant development, the tasks may change over time, which also gives you opportunities to develop and broaden your competence with us.

Mandatory requirements for the position:

• You have a scientific/technical education at the university level or equivalent that we assess as comparable.
• You have at least two years of experience in supervision under the Environmental Code or other work in environmentally hazardous activities.
• You have good knowledge of environmental legislation.
• You can express yourself well in speech and writing (Swedish). That is, you are skilled in written communication by writing well-formulated and clear texts with thoughtfulness and clarity.
• You have a B driver's license, as supervision takes place at facilities throughout the county.

Meritorious:

• If you have work experience in waste issues and waste legislation.
• If you have experience in case handling at an authority or municipality.

• Have a high ability to collaborate by working well with others. You relate to them in a responsive and smooth manner.
• Skilled in oral communication, as you speak well-formulated and engagingly in individual meetings and in small and large groups. You listen and are receptive to the counterpart and adapt to the situation.

• Self-driven by taking responsibility for your task. You structure your work approach and drive your processes forward.
• Goal and result-oriented, as you work towards goals and focus on results.

The employment is

One to two permanent full-time positions that begin with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
