Kooperativet Hand i Hand is a member-driven organization established in 1995 for individuals entitled to assistance. Our members are located in Skåne, Halland, southern Småland, Västra Götaland, Stockholm, and Jämtland. We have offices in Halmstad, Hässleholm, and Malmö. We support our members with everything from applying for hours with the Social Insurance Agency/municipality to personnel issues regarding personal assistants. We believe that the work of a personal assistant is one of the most important jobs as it provides an opportunity for another person, an opportunity that allows him or her to live their life like everyone else.

We are now looking for personal assistants for our boy, a cheerful, playful, and life-loving 13-year-old with, among other things, cerebral palsy and epilepsy. He is non-verbal and communicates through sounds, facial expressions, body language, and a few signs; he can say a couple of words. He has a distinct personality, shows what he likes and dislikes, and spreads a lot of joy around him.

He has a feeding tube for fluids and medications, and you will receive thorough training on how this works. The job involves creating safety, structure, and a positive daily life around him. At the same time, you assist him in all the tasks he cannot manage on his own. This is not a sedentary job, so it is important that you engage him when he wants/needs it. At the same time, he has a great need for things to take their time; you cannot rush.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support in all daily care: hygiene, dressing, meals, etc.
• Handling of feeding tube for fluids and medications according to routines
• Transfers (in the form of hand-holding due to balance) physical assistance
• Support during epilepsy management
• Play, training, walks, and other activities
• Clear and reassuring presence
• Reading his communication and signals
• Collaboration with parents and possibly other staff

We are looking for someone who:

• Is secure, calm, and responsible
• Has a warm demeanor and enjoys working with children
• Has patience and the ability to create safety and structure
• Can handle both calm and more active moments
• Is observant and good at reading non-verbal communication/quick learner
• Ideally has experience in care, children with disabilities, or epilepsy - but it is not a requirement

Working Hours:

We are primarily looking for part-time employees, with good opportunities for fixed shifts. The need is mainly for:

• Afternoons
• Evenings
• Weekends
• Possibly night shifts (with waiting time/on-call)
