The Social Administration in the City of Stockholm has an overarching and coordinating role for social services' individual and family care and disability area. Here, we create good conditions to meet residents in need of social services support. In close collaboration with the district administrations, we contribute to a modern, digital, legally secure, equal, and knowledge-based social service, and we have a strong focus on development. Within the administration, a wide range of support measures is offered to the city's residents, and the offerings change based on the needs of Stockholmers and the wishes of the district administrations. The work often takes place in close cooperation with other authorities, civil society, and the business community. The Social Administration is also responsible for the city's serving and tobacco licenses and conducts supervision.

Söderorts HVB is a newly started operation located in Svedmyra and offers eight places for young people aged 14-17 with social problems and who are placed according to SoL (Social Services Act) and LVU (Act with special provisions on the care of young people).

We work based on environmental therapeutic principles and offer individualized interventions based on the young people's individual needs, with a particular focus on health and schooling. The operation also includes an emergency and short-term accommodation that offers five places for young people in need of a quick placement.

The workgroup consists of 24 employees with positions such as social worker, night treatment assistants, administrative assistant, unit manager, and a group leader. The workgroup staffs both the HVB and the emergency and short-term accommodation.

Your role

As a social worker, you will play a significant role in creating a safe and structured everyday life for the young people. You will work based on an environmental therapeutic approach and provide the young people with conversations and support based on their individual needs. You will also support the young people in their contact with parents, school, social services, BUP, and other important contexts. The work also involves being a contact person for one or more young people with the ambition to meet needs and adapt methods based on individual and assignment. You will work based on assignments from the placing social services and are responsible for documentation as well as designing and following up on implementation plans. The operation is organized to be as home-like as possible, which includes all practical tasks that usually occur in a home, such as cooking, cleaning, helping with homework, etc. The role includes working as a social worker at both Söderorts HVB and the emergency and short-term accommodation based on a rolling schedule with shifts during days, evenings, and weekends.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for you who have:

  • a degree in social work
  • experience in social work that has involved providing motivational and supportive measures to children and young people in everyday life
  • experience in supportive work with networks around children and young people such as family, social services, school, etc.
  • experience working with young people with social problems and challenging behavior
  • experience in documentation work
  • good knowledge of Swedish both spoken and written.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience working in HVB homes or other operations that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • experience and knowledge of low-arousal responses
  • experience of authority exercise within children and young people
  • experience in treatment work, family treatment, work with addiction
  • education in neuropsychiatry
  • education in environmental therapy.
  • experience of collaboration with BUP
  • experience in child conversations, family conversations

You are calm, empathetic, and understand what it means to meet people with low-arousal responses. At the same time, it is important that you are clear, can set boundaries, and are pedagogical in a way that you can adapt your communication well to the young people, their families, and other actors. The role also requires you to be persistent, have patience in your work, and focus on your assignment and long-term work with the young people. Finally, it is important that you can collaborate and have a good ability to create and build relationships with others.
