Career Advisor at the Adult Education Center

Are you a career advisor looking to work in a central career guidance team with other advisors? With us, you will guide adults before and during their studies in municipal adult education.

Your Responsibilities

At the Adult Education Center (CFV), you will be part of a centralized guidance function where we work closely in a team of career advisors. Unlike many other career advisor positions where one often works alone in a school unit, our operation is based on sharing expertise, methods, and responsibility. You will work independently in your meetings with applicants, but you will always have the support of a collective group of colleagues and collaborate closely with functions such as admissions, management, and our various educational providers.

Your main task is to guide adults primarily before their studies in municipal adult education. Since our target group is heterogeneous, ranging from experienced students needing quick e-guidance to individuals requiring extensive support to achieve self-sufficiency, a breadth in your professional role is required. This means alternating between individual guidance sessions, group information, mapping for validation, and follow-up of individual study plans.

An exciting part of the position is our shared focus on digital innovation. We are currently developing guidance via VR so that applicants can try out professions digitally, and we are integrating AI as a tool in our daily work. Here, you are expected to be an active part of the team's development work to create modern and target group-adapted guidance. As our mission is changeable and driven by political goals and labor market needs, you thrive in an environment where we adapt together to new circumstances at short notice.

Your Workplace

The Adult Education Center is a unit that gathers the municipal adult education's overarching functions and authority in Linköping municipality and provides conditions for effective management, governance, and operational follow-up.

The unit is led by an area manager, a principal, and an assistant principal who are tasked with gathering and developing various assignments within adult education: admissions to adult education, career guidance, quality follow-up, communication, information and outreach activities, support services, operational follow-up, and evaluation of the authorized adult education. The Adult Education Center is tasked with ensuring the quality of the education provided by the educational providers contracted with Linköping municipality. This includes systematically and continuously following up on the schools' adult education, analyzing results, and ensuring compliance with applicable agreements while planning and creating the basis for further development of adult education.

Who We Are Looking For

It is an advantage if you have experience working in a politically governed organization as we work systematically and results-oriented according to the committee's goals. Experience in driving various development issues within your professional field and actively wanting and being able to contribute to the development of our operations is also advantageous. You have good knowledge of IT-based technology and digital guidance tools. It is also beneficial if you have experience with guidance via digital tools.

To succeed in this role, you need to be structured, self-driven, responsible, and used to driving work independently while having a desire to collaborate with others. You work with goals and are guided by goal and result-oriented thinking in prioritizations, planning, and actions based on given time frames and deadlines. Through a conscious approach, you create security, trust, and good relationships. You see connections and prioritize the right issues, listen in, and create understanding while acting and being flexible in the face of changes.
