About the Role

As a summer clerk at Växjö District Court, you will gain insight into the court's operations, either at the general court or at the environmental court. Together with an engaged team of case handlers, judges, legal clerks, and clerks, you will contribute to ensuring that cases and matters are handled securely and efficiently. The tasks correspond largely to those performed by newly hired clerks at the district court. You will see how practical court work is conducted and receive general training in legal analysis and methodology. Your employment begins with a tailored introduction, and you will work under supervision.

The overall goal of the summer clerk position is to provide insight into the daily court work and the various cases and matters that occur at a district court. This primarily happens by giving you the opportunity to participate in practical work, which may also include tasks at the department's office.

Main Responsibilities

As a summer clerk, you will among other things:

  • Take minutes at meetings and hearings
  • Write draft judgments
  • Conduct legal research
  • Prepare cases and matters to some extent

About You

We are looking for someone who wants to work this summer in one of society's most important operations. You have good grades from completed parts of your law studies as well as strong legal knowledge.

In the role of summer clerk, you are responsible, thorough, independent, and concerned that the handling of our cases is done correctly. You have a flexible approach, good collaboration skills, and a strong ability to organize and plan your work. You are an experienced computer user and see computers and email as natural work tools. You communicate information clearly and simply, interact with people professionally, and build good relationships.

To be considered for employment, you must also meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means standing up for democratic values and the governmental values that guide the operations of Sweden's Courts. We require that you follow applicable laws. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

Since we want to give as many people as possible insight into the court's operations, we will primarily prioritize applicants who do not have previous experience from similar work in the court.

Requirements

  • Passed up to and including the sixth semester of the law program
  • Completed procedural law as well as criminal and civil law in the law program
  • Not completed your education before the summer of 2026
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • Good computer skills, including the Office suite and other document management systems

About Us

With around 100 employees, Växjö District Court is one of Sweden's larger courts. Our organization consists of employees with various competencies, each of whom is significant in maintaining high quality at all levels. The district court emphasizes the importance of active employee participation with a focus on responsibility, engagement, and involvement.

The court has four adjudicating departments, two at the general court and two at the environmental court. About 40 employees work at the general court. About 50 employees work at the environmental court.
