Lawyer at the Legal Secretariat of the Riksbank

WHAT YOU WILL DO WITH US

You will belong to the Riksbank's Legal Secretariat. The Legal Secretariat works with legal issues within the entire scope of the Riksbank's responsibilities, which includes financial stability, payments, monetary policy, data and statistics, preparedness, and other legal matters that arise in an authority. The Legal Secretariat is led by the Riksbank's Chief Legal Counsel, who provides legal support to the Riksbank's management and has a functional responsibility for the overall legal work at the Riksbank. You will assist the Chief Legal Counsel in assessing and coordinating legal issues within the Riksbank. You are expected to work on problem-solving and provide high-quality legal support to the authority's management and other parts of the Riksbank. You will often collaborate with economists and lawyers from the Riksbank's departments. National and international external contacts are also common. You will perform your tasks with a high degree of responsibility.

YOUR TEAM

The Riksbank consists of nine departments. The Legal Secretariat, led by the Riksbank's Chief Legal Counsel, is part of the Riksbank's staff department and consists of nine lawyers. The Riksbank as a whole has around 25 lawyers who meet regularly to discuss common issues across departmental boundaries. Here you can read more about the Riksbank's organization.

MORE ABOUT YOU

You are a skilled lawyer with:

  • a Swedish law degree (formerly a Bachelor of Laws),
  • completed court clerk service,
  • at least three years of experience in qualified legal work in court and/or administrative authority (beyond the court clerk service),
  • good knowledge of administrative law including public access and confidentiality, and
  • experience in qualified legal work related to the financial sector.

It is advantageous if you:

  • are a court of appeal or administrative court assessor,
  • have experience in legislative work at the Government Offices or the Parliament,
  • have experience in qualified legal work at a law firm or financial company,
  • have experience in qualified legal work in any of the following areas: financial companies in crisis, payments, settlement of securities transactions, statistics, security protection, crisis preparedness, and heightened readiness.

As a person, you are meticulous, self-driven, and determined with good analytical skills. You are effective in planning and prioritizing your work, build trusting relationships, and have a very good ability to communicate in both speech and writing. You have excellent collaboration skills and act with integrity.

MORE ABOUT THE POSITION

Start date: By agreement
Employment type: Permanent employment, probationary period may apply
Location: Headquarters Stockholm
Working hours: Trust-based working hours
Possibility to work remotely: 1 or 2 days a week

The position may be classified in a security class, and a security review including background checks, security interview, and special personal investigation will be conducted for the final candidate. For certain positions, Swedish citizenship is required.
