About National Women's Shelter and Support in Sign Language
National Women's Shelter and Support in Sign Language, NKJT, has been Sweden's leading competence center and the only support and service organization focusing on deaf, hard-of-hearing, and deafblind children, youth, women, non-binary individuals, and others who have been, or are at risk of being subjected to violence, or who need support in Swedish sign language since 2019. With our expertise in sign language and violence victimization, we offer qualified counseling support, assistance in contacts with authorities, and, if necessary, sign language-protected housing in close collaboration with social services. We also run two online-based shelters in sign language – one for children and youth and one for women and girls as well as non-binary individuals experiencing violence. As a national competence center in this area, we spread knowledge and experiences to improve support for sign language users across the country. Read more about our support at www.nkjt.se and www.boujt.se.
We look forward to hearing from you and together creating safety and opportunities for those who need us the most.
