ÖSTERGÖTLANDS STADSMISSION

to apply for the job

Everyone we meet at Stadsmissionen has a story. Stories about finding a place to sleep, being hungry, being involuntarily alone, or being subjected to violence and threats. We meet the people behind these stories every day, all year round. And we work every day, all year round, on their opportunities for transition to a better life. At Stadsmissionen, you have the chance to make a real difference in people's lives, to be part of something bigger, and to help create a more humane society.

Do you want to be involved from the beginning and build a service that makes a real difference? We are now looking for several dedicated social pedagogues for our newly started HVB operation where we provide round-the-clock care for men.

The operation is located in Getå, an area known for its calming nature, forests, and proximity to Bråviken. Here we work to create behavioral change, recovery, stabilization, and increased quality of life through structured treatment in a safe and calming environment. We address both perpetrators of violence and victims of violence, and actively work to prevent further violence in close relationships. The treatment focuses on comorbidity, such as substance dependence, mental health issues, trauma, and PTSD, and is carried out by a multidisciplinary team consisting of social pedagogues, treatment managers, and conversation therapists. Together, we create a comprehensive solution where different competencies complement each other – with the goal of moving the men from vulnerability to a more independent life with increased quality of life.

Your role as a social pedagogue
As a social pedagogue, you are an important part of the daily work with clients. You are responsible for ensuring that interventions are implemented according to the implementation plan and assignments from social services. You work closely with clients in their daily lives, create structure, document in journals, and are the contact person for clients. You contribute to promoting the men's well-being and enabling their change process – through relational approaches, support in external contacts, crisis management, and collaboration with colleagues and authorities. As a social pedagogue, you will meet the men in individual supportive conversations and in groups. With human warmth and professional treatment, we help the men break destructive patterns of violence, receive treatment for their comorbidity, and increase their empowerment towards an independent life.

Is this you?
We are looking for someone who has the ability to create a safe, calm, and positive atmosphere – both in the workgroup and among our clients. You are relationship-building, empathetic, and clear in your communication. You are confident in your professional role and have a good ability to understand clients' experiences and behaviors. Since our clients' needs vary, it is important that you are flexible, solution-oriented, and have good self-awareness. You enjoy collaborating but are also self-driven and can take your own initiatives. Structure, responsibility, and a professional approach are obvious parts of your work. You express yourself well in both speech and writing and have experience documenting according to applicable routines.

You have a commitment to social work and a strong desire to make a difference – not just for the individual, but for society as a whole. You share our values and belief that all people have the right to a dignified life.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed vocational college education as a social pedagogue with at least 400 YH points or equivalent education as a social worker, behavioral scientist, or similar
  • Driver's license for manual transmission and access to a car as the operation is not accessible by public transport

It is an advantage if you have any of the following competencies:

  • Work experience in social work with the target group and issues related to substance dependence, violence victimization/perpetration, comorbidity, and crime.
  • Basic education in substance dependence, violence victimization/perpetration, mental health issues, functional variations, relational approaches, comorbidity, and/or crime.
  • Method support such as ÅP, FREDA, ASI, CRA, TMO, MI, SARA/PATRIARK.

We place great emphasis on personal matching.
