Education Officer at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency

The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crises, heightened readiness, and war.

The agency aims to provide training and education and be a driving force to ensure competence in civil defense and crisis preparedness.

The section has both a coordinating mandate and a responsibility to ensure that training directed at the preparedness system is conducted and promoted through various educational providers.

Your Responsibilities and Tasks

As an Education Officer, you will ensure progress and further development in the administrative process for training in civil defense and crisis preparedness. You will be responsible for educational administrative processes such as offer handling, student admissions, invoicing, marketing, and systematic follow-up and processing of course evaluations. The role involves many points of contact, such as the Swedish Defence University and other universities, colleges, the agency's externally directed educational organizations, and the management of distance and online courses.

The work takes place in a smaller section that is being established from 2026, following an internal transfer of responsibilities within the agency.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for someone who has:

• a relevant academic degree or relevant experience deemed equivalent by the employer
• experience in educational administration
• good computer skills for efficient work in MS Office, as well as in educational administrative systems
• knowledge of financial planning and offer management for training or courses
• good proficiency in spoken and written Swedish and English

It is advantageous if you have:

• education in the preparedness area
• experience working with course and educational development
• experience in management support and the preparation of decision-making materials in the public sector
• knowledge of the educational field within civil defense and crisis preparedness, such as course offerings, actor landscape, and competence needs
• knowledge of total defense and its development needs

You need to be able to work quickly and efficiently with high accuracy within administrative processes and be adaptable to ongoing reorganization and rapid development within the agency and for educational assignments.

About the Employment

We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period.

Your workplace will be Karlstad or Stockholm, and travel may be required in the position.

The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the agency are assigned to war duties.

The section will be newly formed on January 1, 2026, following a division of the Training Unit and the addition of assignments and resources within the educational field. Continued organizational development will take place during 2026 to consolidate the mission and ensure effective governance and management of educational activities within the new agency's system-leading role.
