Job Responsibilities
We are now looking for a Swedish teacher who wants to help develop our school's work with reading!
Are you an experienced teacher who wants to contribute to our school's reading initiatives? You will be based in our school library, which currently has a qualified school librarian. This position is new and will be built and developed in collaboration with the school library, school management, lead teachers, and other teachers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working strategically and practically with reading across all subjects in collaboration with teachers.
- Leading the planning, implementation, and follow-up of reading promotion initiatives for students in grades 4–9.
- Utilizing and further developing the school library as an active part of teaching by supporting teachers in their selection of books, including textbooks, non-fiction, and fiction related to various subjects and areas.
- Guiding colleagues in language and knowledge-developing methods, focusing on reading strategies, text comprehension, and source criticism.
- Contributing to the school's systematic quality work related to students' reading development and goal fulfillment.
Qualifications
We are looking for a qualified and licensed Swedish teacher who wants to take on a developing and meaningful role with significant pedagogical responsibility. It is an advantage if you also have qualifications in Swedish as a second language. As a person, you are a skilled, engaged, and development-oriented educator with a strong drive. You have a good ability to lead yourself, take responsibility for your role, and drive development work forward, while also being highly skilled at collaborating and building professional relationships with both students and colleagues as well as school management.
To succeed in this role, we see that you have good and documented experience working with reading and reading promotion initiatives. You possess solid knowledge about reading in all subjects as well as language and knowledge-developing methods, and have a good understanding of genre pedagogy. Furthermore, you see the school library as a central resource for both teaching and learning.
