Umeå Biotech Incubator is expanding with a new Business Coach for a temporary position until December 15, 2026 - are you the one? About the Position

As a Business Coach at Umeå Biotech Incubator, you will play a central role in the incubator's daily operations and work closely with idea bearers and companies in various development phases. The assignment involves being responsible for several incubator cases and following them through all or parts of the incubation process.

Your tasks will particularly focus on the early phases, where you contribute to the development of ideas and companies towards clearer business models, technical validation, and market relevance.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Coach and support innovators in business development, strategy, and planning
• Analyze business ideas within life sciences to evaluate the potential for idea bearers to apply to UBI.
• Collaborate with incubator cases to develop individual activity plans with clear milestones linked to budgets
• Support companies in matters related to market, intellectual property rights, and fundraising
• Collaborate with internal colleagues and external experts and networks to support incubator cases.
• Contribute to the development of UBI's incubation processes and internal working methods

The content of the work varies depending on the maturity level of the companies and their need for support, providing a dynamic and developing everyday life.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone who loves to build people and companies and gains energy from seeing others succeed. You have many years of experience in business development within life sciences and a broad understanding of the processes that drive a company forward, as well as experience in fundraising. Perhaps you have experience with an IPO or have been involved in building a company and have seen both successes and less successful ventures. Maybe you have been part of a startup yourself? You have a wide network of contacts relevant to the role of a business coach in an incubator and actively utilize it. You do not need to have a PhD but should have an understanding of the industry and the life sciences field.

As a person, you are brave, engaged, and professional. You dare to challenge and drive constructive dialogues to help innovators take the next step. With strong self-leadership, personal drive, and a generous attitude, you share your knowledge and contribute to an inclusive culture where quality, collaboration, and pay it forward are integral parts of the work.

The position is located in Umeå.

Umeå Biotech Incubator (UBI) is a leading incubator that evaluates and supports business ideas within life sciences, focusing primarily on pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. We are owned by Umeå University Holding, Umeå municipal companies, and Region Västerbotten.
