The regional development work is based on the regional development strategy for Västerbotten 2020-2030, with the goal of making Västerbotten an equitable, gender-equal, and cohesive region that leads the transition. Access to a robust and secure digital infrastructure throughout Västerbotten is a prerequisite for achieving this goal. Within the framework of a government assignment, Region Västerbotten also maintains a function as a regional broadband coordinator.

Within the Business and Community Development department, approximately 50 employees currently work across three units. We are now looking for an engaged and driven regional broadband coordinator to make a real difference, based in the unit for digitalization and innovation management!

RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role as a regional broadband coordinator with us, you will create conditions for collaboration, new knowledge, and a strong future.

The mission of the regional broadband coordinator is to work together with other regional broadband coordinators in Sweden to promote overall coordination, collaboration, and cooperation in broadband and connectivity issues, as well as to serve as a contact point for such matters in Västerbotten, for both public and private actors.

Your tasks will include planning, implementing, and reporting on the assignment as a broadband coordinator while maintaining a holistic view in the overall coordination. You will assist the national level in follow-up work related to broadband expansion and other connectivity issues. You will collaborate with the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) on various assignments, such as identifying where there are gaps in mobile coverage in Västerbotten and participating in the formulation of policies and government support based on our regional conditions and challenges.

You will be a driving force among various actors and in relevant networks at the municipal, regional, and national levels, initiating new collaborations in Västerbotten and, when necessary, with other regions. You will convene networks on broadband and connectivity issues in Västerbotten, share new knowledge and information, and disseminate this to relevant actors and networks. You will support municipalities and facilitate the work being done by local initiatives for better connectivity.

The role is broad and spans many fields, focusing on leading multiple parties to a common action for greater impact in society. You will be responsible for driving processes and projects forward in collaboration with actors from the public sector, business, academia, and civil society. You will also participate in the unit's, department's, and administration's other assignments to strengthen regional development and growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is driven and strong in collaboration, with a natural talent for communication both in writing and verbally. You have the ability to work solution-oriented in both the short and long term. You have a societal interest and can see the big picture regarding both global and local societal challenges.

You have a university degree or equivalent experience in the fields of social sciences, natural sciences, or another area that Region Västerbotten deems relevant for the position.

You have at least 3-5 years of work experience in strategic development work within critical infrastructure, such as broadband and digital infrastructure, and understand how this can contribute to sustainable community building.

It is advantageous if you have previous work experience in project management and process management, analysis, procurement, rural development, EU projects, and coordination assignments. You should also have experience working in a politically governed organization, knowledge of GIS, and be adept at building good relationships both internally and externally.

You must be able to communicate well in speech and writing and have good knowledge of English. A driver's license (B) is required as travel is part of the job. To succeed in this role, you must be self-driven, taking responsibility for your tasks and driving your own processes. You need to have good collaboration skills, working well with others, relating to them in a responsive and smooth manner. You are relationship-building by being outgoing and socially active in professional contexts, making it easy for you to create contacts and relationships.
