We are now seeking an experienced interim department manager for an assignment within project operations and business development. The role entails overall responsibility for the project office and business development function in an organization that drives extensive construction and civil engineering projects. The assignment is strategic and operational, with a clear focus on leadership, governance, and development.

You will step into a key role in the organization's management and be responsible for ensuring effective planning, execution, and follow-up of projects while further developing business development and external relations.

About the Role

As interim department manager, you have operational, financial, and personnel responsibility and are part of the company management. You lead the project office responsible for planning, management, and documentation of construction and civil engineering projects, as well as the business development function that works with external collaborations, networks, and development of the organization.

The department consists of approximately 7–8 employees, mainly project managers, as well as a business development function. The content of the assignment may evolve over time and may eventually encompass a larger area of responsibility, for example, within development and environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the project office and business development function
• Be responsible for operational governance, finance, and personnel
• Be part of the company management and contribute to strategic decisions
• Ensure that construction and civil engineering projects are driven effectively and meet goals
• Collaborate with the steering group to create clarity regarding the purpose, priorities, and execution of projects
• Support project managers in methodology, follow-up, and quality
• Drive business development, external contacts, and networking
• Contribute to the development of working methods, structure, and long-term organizational development

Requirements

To be considered for the assignment, you must have:

• At least several years of experience as a manager, including work in a management team
• Extensive experience in project management within construction, civil engineering, and/or process industry
• Documented ability to lead, structure, and develop operations
• Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English

Meritorious

It is advantageous if you have:

• Technical university education, such as a civil engineer or engineering degree
• Experience from the public sector or politically governed organizations
• Experience working in a limited company
• Knowledge of contract law
• Experience from the water and wastewater sector and/or environmental work, such as permitting processes, environmental management systems, or supervision

Security

The assignment is subject to security clearance. The consultant will initially work with non-security classified tasks until the approved security clearance is completed.
