The position and job responsibilities

Öppenvård Vuxen is looking for a therapist who wants to make a real difference for adults with dependency issues and criminal lifestyles.

With us, you work closely with individuals and help create conditions for a more stable and independent life.

As a therapist, you offer conversations, advice, and structured treatment that strengthens motivation and the ability to change. You provide information about dependency and relapse prevention, follow up on interventions, and adapt support according to each person's needs. The role also includes outreach work where you actively seek out individuals who do not seek help on their own. By meeting them in their daily lives, building trust, and fostering motivation, you contribute to more people gaining access to the right support and the chance for change.

Your main job responsibilities:

  • be the main responsible for our support group, a group for individuals who cannot benefit from regular treatment. Planned start in 2026
  • conduct individual and group-based treatments based on methods such as Community Reinforcement Approach and the Twelve-Step Program
  • work with criminality treatment by strengthening prosocial behaviors and preventing relapse
  • participate in outreach and field-based work, including activities such as Outdoor Monday, support housing, and outreach bus
  • contribute to accessible support by staffing the meeting point in Tumba center and meeting individuals who have not yet reached traditional treatment.

As a therapist at Öppenvård Vuxen, you work on behalf of Adult Investigation, where assignments are registered in the operational system Lifecare. You also meet new clients who contact the dependency counseling phone and offer advice and short conversation support at our service area. Your role also includes working with IPS (Individual Placement and Support) to assist individuals with mental disabilities or dependency back to work or studies.

In 2026, we will have our own outreach bus that will allow us to meet the residents of Botkyrka directly where they are. Through outreach work, you offer support on-site, lower the thresholds to treatment, and collaborate closely with colleagues and external actors to ensure that each individual receives the right support.

We offer you

At Öppenvård Vuxen, a total of 19 employees work, of which nine are therapists, seven labor market consultants, two supervisors, and one unit manager. We are a dedicated team with extensive experience in treatment, motivational efforts, and criminality work, where we together create individually tailored support that makes a real difference for our clients.

The unit is characterized by collaboration, lack of prestige, and a culture where we support and take care of each other. As a new employee, you will receive a clear introduction plan based on your needs and support from both supervisors and experienced colleagues. You will be offered continuous supervision, both external and collegial, to create security in your role and give you the opportunity to develop in your work. We place great importance on well-being and a sustainable work environment. Through joint activities and well-being days, we strengthen the community in the team. In consultation with the manager, there is also the possibility of remote work one day a week.

You who are applying to us

You have a degree in social work, are a behavioral scientist, or have another education that the employer deems equivalent, such as social pedagogue. You have experience working with individuals with harmful use and mental health issues.

We consider it meritorious if you have:

  • Experience in treatment work for individuals with dependency and mental health issues.
  • Experience with the criminality target group.
  • Step-1 training in psychotherapy.
  • Experience working with treatment methods such as the 12-step program or CRA.
  • Experience leading group treatment within the 12-step program.
  • Experience in gambling treatment.
  • Driver's license (B).

As a therapist within Öppenvård Vuxen, you work closely with people in change and need to be able to switch between supporting, motivating, and challenging. The role requires you to collaborate closely with colleagues, social workers, and other actors to create a cohesive support system and keep interventions coordinated. You meet individuals who are not always ready for traditional treatment, which requires flexibility and the ability to adapt your approach to each individual's situation.

With your relationship-building ability, you build trust and create motivation for change. At the same time, you have a structured and solution-oriented approach that allows you to plan, follow up, and adapt interventions in a clear and goal-oriented manner. By combining engagement with professionalism, you contribute to ensuring that each individual receives the right support at the right time and to creating conditions for sustainable change in their lives.

For positions in the Social Administration of Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
