Digital Accessibility Specialist

In this role, you will have a key position where you will map the current situation, create structures for the future, and support operations in the practical work of accessibility adaptation.

In the position of digital accessibility specialist, you will be part of the municipality's work to ensure that our digital material complies with the DOS law and WCAG. The role involves close collaboration with several departments, where you support, coordinate, and drive the work to make documents and web content accessible to everyone. You will be responsible for developing structures, routines, and training that provide the departments with the right support in their daily work. About us

The position of digital accessibility specialist is a new role that will belong to the communications unit. The unit is part of the municipal executive office and the department for sustainable community development. The department also includes social sustainability and security, business, and strategic planning.

The unit consists of 13 employees who work both practically and strategically to develop and coordinate the municipality's communication. The unit supports all offices with assessment, advice, planning, and implementation of communication efforts. The work includes, among other things, advertising, graphic profile, press and media, social media, printed materials, as well as the municipality's website and intranet.

About the position

As a digital accessibility specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our digital platforms are accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. You will work closely with various teams and create relationships that promote collaboration and understanding of accessibility principles. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference and has the ability to engage others in this important issue. Your work will include:

• Mapping together with departments to see how, among other things, PDF documents and web pages meet the requirements of the DOS law and what deficiencies exist.
• Developing a plan for how the organization will ensure compliance with legal requirements for accessible digital material.
• Coordinating the work with all offices.
• Being the contact person for departments regarding digital accessibility issues.
• Supporting departments in adapting existing documents to be accessible.
• Developing and conducting training for employees.
• All work must ensure that the municipality meets the legal requirements within DOS.
• Practical work with accessibility adaptation of documents.

Are you structured and want to work with digital accessibility? Then you could be the one we are looking for as our digital accessibility specialist. In this role, you will play a crucial part in creating a more inclusive and user-friendly digital environment for everyone.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has documented experience in accessibility adaptation of documents and knows what is required for documents to be made accessible for internal and external publication.
• Has experience in conducting accessibility checks.
• Has knowledge of the DOS law and WCAG.
• Can handle digital accessibility across multiple channels, such as PDF and a website.
• Is experienced in working with Adobe Acrobat and the Office suite.

It is an advantage if you have experience working in a municipality or another politically governed organization.

As a person, you are relationship-building and have the ability to create collaborations both internally and externally. You are also collaborative and solution-oriented and enjoy working together with others to achieve common goals. You can explain and support others in a pedagogical way.
