Sustainability Strategist with a Focus on Social Sustainability
You like structure. And you are full of ideas. Just like us.
Do you want to take strategic responsibility for social sustainability in a growing city where the work is close to politics and focuses on the entire municipality?
Sundbyberg Municipality is one of Sweden's most expansive municipalities. Here, we work together to create a sustainable and inclusive city for everyone who lives, works, and visits here. Now you have the chance to help shape the future of Sundbyberg! We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to a socially sustainable Sundbyberg.
You will be part of an organization characterized by collaboration, accountability, and a willingness to develop. We offer a dynamic work environment where your skills and ideas make a real difference.
About the Position
You will be part of the administrative staff responsible for the municipality's overarching work with strategic goal and operational management. The staff also works with issues related to environmental and social sustainability and provides investigative and administrative support to the city director and deputy city director. The work is led by the head of staff.
As a sustainability strategist focusing on social sustainability, you have overall responsibility for leading, managing, and following up the municipality's work for a sustainable Sundbyberg. You will work strategically with issues including public health, equality, and gender equality, as well as gender and norm-critical perspectives. You are not expected to be an expert in all these areas – your role is to contribute an overarching strategic perspective and collaborate with specialists where needed. The assignment also includes work on mental health and suicide prevention.
The role involves close collaboration with colleagues in other political areas, both within social and environmental sustainability, to strengthen the holistic perspective and contribute to cohesive and effective governance.
The assignment is based on politically established goals and aims to ensure the implementation of the Program for a Sustainable Sundbyberg – local Agenda 2030 throughout the municipality.
You will handle, investigate, and present cases independently, as well as prepare reports, decision-making materials, and governing documents. The assignment also includes responding to referrals and participating in the city's central crisis management work.
Qualifications and Experience
We want you to have an academic degree in public health science or other education/knowledge that the employer deems relevant for the position. You have experience working in a municipal, politically governed organization and have good system knowledge of the conditions and terms of the political process. You have excellent knowledge of the Swedish language and can express yourself well in speech and writing.
It is an advantage if you have worked with public procurement and have an understanding of how public procurement can contribute to a socially sustainable society. It is also an advantage if you have worked to create, maintain, and further develop management systems or have driven operational development and change management in medium-sized organizations.
Personal Qualities
To succeed in the role, you are structured and analytical, with a good ability to see the whole picture and make well-founded assessments of consequences in both the short and long term. You are confident in your assignment and can remain calm even in complex and demanding situations.
You enjoy working with others and find it easy to build and develop good relationships, both internally and externally. You are engaged and goal-oriented in your work, take responsibility for driving issues forward, and at the same time have a curiosity that allows you to continuously follow developments in your field through environmental monitoring and learning.
What We Offer You
With us, you will have a meaningful assignment in a socially important operation as well as a secure employment with a collective agreement and good conditions.
We offer flexible working hours, the possibility of some remote work, generous wellness benefits, a benefit bike, and vacation exchange. You will work in a modern and activity-based city hall with very good communication, which creates good conditions for a balance between work, health, and leisure.
