Summer Substitute Detention Supervisor at the Migration Agency in Märsta

At the Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are around 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

We are looking for summer substitute detention supervisors for the detention center in Märsta.

A detention unit houses individuals who have received a deportation or expulsion decision and need to be available for enforcement. A person can also be detained if their right to stay in the country or their identity needs to be investigated. The detention center is a closed unit, and operations are conducted around the clock. The work is based on current legislation where legal security, dignity, and safety are important.

What does a detention supervisor do?

The role includes work with care, monitoring, searches, and security. You conduct conversations during, for example, admissions and discharges, as well as to inform about decisions. You pay attention to and handle any special needs of the detainees and organize activities for them. Furthermore, you ensure a calm, safe, and secure environment in the detention center by performing security checks and searches. Participation in transports, responsibility for food handling, and some administration are also included in the position. The work can be physically demanding to some extent.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team and has good collaboration skills, is attentive, and resolves conflicts constructively. You have good self-awareness and can distinguish between the personal and the professional.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
• Experience in work requiring good service and professional interaction
• Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
• Good knowledge of English

It is advantageous if you have

• Experience working with people in vulnerable situations
• Experience in social work, such as care, mental health, addiction, or similar
• Experience in a high-security environment
• Driver's license (B)

Employment type: Summer substitute until 2026-08-31
Working hours: Scheduled working hours day/evening/night, weekend work may also occur
Location: Märsta
Start date: 2026-06-01 or by agreement. Employment begins with a mandatory introduction (with pay) conducted during the spring.
We apply individual salary setting within a salary range of approximately 28,000 - 33,000 SEK/month.

The Migration Agency conducts checks in the police's suspicion and criminal records before making hiring decisions.
