Your Role

As a mechanical designer with us, you will work on the development and verification of the pyrotechnic ignition chain. This is a very critical system for safe, reliable, and precise functionality, as it both secures and initiates the main charge in our products.

You will be involved in developing Saab's operations in the design of ignition systems in Linköping. A brand new team is being created to build expertise in ignition systems for underwater products such as sea mines, torpedoes, and depth charges.

You will help develop, verify, and follow new products from idea to finished product. We also work with the management of existing products, and part of the job involves assisting production with troubleshooting and management as well as supporting customers with maintenance and updates.

In an office environment, work is done using CAD tools such as 3DExperience. System work in the form of documentation, requirements writing, and compliance is also an important task. We also work a lot practically in a lab environment with tests and trials. The work is mostly done in teams where each team member is an important cog, given great freedom to take responsibility and drive their part of the task. Of course, there are always team members, colleagues, and others to support. Our workplace is characterized by a lack of prestige and good collaboration where we solve our tasks together.

Training and support occur through close collaboration with our sister section in Karlskoga.

Your Profile

We believe you have a genuine interest in technology and enjoy practical applications such as prototype building or testing. We are looking for someone who is forward-thinking and outgoing, with good communication and collaboration skills. We believe you are a master's or bachelor's engineer with a focus on mechanical engineering, engineering physics, or similar, or have an education/experience deemed relevant. Knowledge of any CAD tool and experience in design and/or systems engineering work is advantageous. You express yourself well in both spoken and written language, in both Swedish and English.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for specific citizenship.
