IT Technician at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role is placed in the group for Virtual Workplaces and Printing. Our group is responsible for thin clients, printing, the IT environment for inmates, and the underlying platforms. The group manages and further develops services used by both the staff and the inmates of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. These services include digital learning tools for inmates, the opportunity for remanded individuals to access investigation materials, and employees' access to central administrative systems.

We work as third-line technicians with installations, lifecycle management, certification, testing, and changes to both hardware and software. We take overall responsibility for the operation and further development of these environments and continuously collaborate with both architects and technicians in other IT infrastructure groups.

As an IT technician in the group, you contribute to delivering a stable, secure, and modern work environment. You work with troubleshooting, optimization, and improvements of our clients, printing services, and related systems. Your interest and previous experiences determine your focus.

The role involves close dialogue and collaboration with first and second-line support as well as other parts of the infrastructure. This includes external suppliers, networks, server environments, and access management.

We are looking ahead and building competence for future needs; we have something big in the works. Therefore, we are looking for someone with experience in Linux and preferably automation, such as scripting or workflow automation. These are areas we plan to utilize more to streamline and future-proof our solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have good collaboration skills and are attentive to your colleagues. We expect you to have a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge and that individuals have different conditions. In addition, you can easily put yourself in someone else's perspective and understand their situation. You also have a habit of setting your own goals and actively working towards them with a focus on results - you do this by prioritizing, planning, and acting.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Complete upper secondary school competence in the form of a final grade or upper secondary diploma
  • Experience working in Linux environments
  • Basic knowledge of Linux system administration
  • Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and English

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Higher vocational education or equivalent
  • University education at the bachelor's level or equivalent
  • Certifications in relevant technology or system administration
  • Several years of experience in installation, operation, maintenance, or troubleshooting of Unix/Linux environments regardless of role
  • Experience working as an IT technician, IT Operations Specialist, operations technician, system administrator, system manager, or equivalent
  • Experience performing deeper troubleshooting on hardware and software for thin clients, printers, or tablets
  • Experience with network and server infrastructure
  • Experience in automation and automation
  • Experience with the working methods, systems, and tools of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
  • Basic knowledge of PKI
  • Basic knowledge of IGEL OS
  • Very good knowledge of Windows management (Permissions, AD, GPO)
  • Good knowledge in the design of technical documentation
