In the neonatal department, we work in modern facilities where children and parents are cared for together. We have a close collaboration with the delivery ward and maternity ward. Furthermore, we have the county-wide responsibility for the care of all sick newborns or premature infants in Dalarna. We provide light care and intensive care in the unit's 12 care places as well as outpatient services. Together, we offer good care for all birthing families in Dalarna. Here, you have the opportunity to help develop the future of neonatal care in Dalarna.

You will work in a team with, among others, nurses, doctors, social workers, dietitians, and physiotherapists. You will have a close collaboration with the nursing responsible nurse where child- and family-centered development-supportive care is fundamental.

As a child nurse/assistant nurse, you have an important function, among other things, by:

• being observant of changes in the child
• supporting the child's development
• supporting parents in the bonding process and getting to know their child
• supporting the breastfeeding process

The work is varied and requires good adaptability. The department has a well-functioning internal training program, and you will be offered tailored onboarding. You should be able to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

The neonatal department is part of the Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Clinic, where we help each other across unit boundaries. After tailored onboarding, some work may occur in the larger children's department.

We are looking for someone who:

• is a trained assistant nurse who has completed the Health and Care program or the vocational package Health and Care in adult education.
• has specializations in emergency care and medicine 2 (from the previous Health and Care program)
• has a diploma from the Health and Care College

It is considered an advantage if you

• have further training focused on newborns and sick children as well as specialist training in pediatric care
• have previous experience in neonatal, pediatric care/intensive care

Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities and suitability. You have a stability, maturity, and personality that allows you to work in stressful and acute situations and can meet parents in crisis. You are flexible, meticulous, and have good social skills. You also have an interest and ability to handle medical technical equipment. You should also have an interest in developing neonatal care.

Information about the Job Title

As of July 1, 2023, assistant nurse is a protected job title (https://legitimation.socialstyrelsen.se/underskoterska-blir-en-skyddad-yrkestitel/). This means that you need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title assistant nurse within health and care.

You can apply for the certificate from July 1, 2023. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in health and care, but with a different title than assistant nurse. For those offered a job with us in Region Dalarna after July 1, this means that the title in your employment contract will be Care Assistant until you can present your certificate. Those who had a permanent position with the title assistant nurse when the new regulations came into effect on July 1, 2023, can continue to use the assistant nurse title for 10 years. You can retain the title even if you change workplaces/employers after July 1. After that, you need to have a certificate of protected job title to use the title assistant nurse.
