Avesta Hospital is a smaller county hospital with an emergency department open 24/7 and three wards with a total of about 40 beds. We offer local healthcare for southern Dalarna and northern Västmanland and have a broad specialist operation in medicine, geriatrics, and rehabilitation.

Resident physician in geriatrics - Avesta Hospital Job Responsibilities

As a resident physician in geriatrics, you will have a varied and developing position with responsibilities such as:

• Management of stroke patients throughout the care chain - from acute phase to rehabilitation
• Geriatric care of patients with acute internal medical conditions
• Orthopedic rehabilitation
• Cognitive assessments and specialist follow-ups for dementia diseases
• Stroke and neurological follow-ups (e.g., Parkinson's disease, MS)
• Collaboration with primary care and service in the region's mobile teams
• Supervision of training doctors, students, and contributing to our educational activities

We work in multiprofessional teams with a person-centered holistic view - together we create the best care for our patients. Your residency training is planned individually with the possibility to combine with residency in internal medicine.

Requirements:

• Swedish medical license
• Swedish language skills equivalent to at least C1 level
• Personal qualities such as responsibility and good collaboration skills
