Researcher with a Social Science Focus

The Riksdag Administration is an authority tasked with facilitating the work of the Riksdag. The Riksdag's Research Service is part of the Riksdag Administration and has the primary task of assisting members of parliament and party group offices with knowledge support for political considerations and decisions.

We are now looking for a qualified researcher with a social science focus for the section of law and political science. The section employs twelve people with backgrounds in political science, law, and natural sciences.

Your Responsibilities

Work at the Research Service is based on assignments from members of parliament, party group offices, and parliamentary research services in other countries. The section of law and political science is responsible for assignments across a wide range of subject areas, including public administration, constitutional issues, democracy issues, defense policy, criminal policy, and housing policy. Responsibilities include analyzing current political issues, describing and investigating systems and regulations, compiling and analyzing statistics, conducting international comparative analyses, and producing literature reviews.

Research work is based on the needs of the client, and assignments are developed in dialogue with the client. The work is also governed by requirements for high integrity and objectivity. As a researcher, you will often work independently on several parallel assignments that vary in complexity and scope, usually within tight deadlines.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in political science or related fields. You should also have several years of experience in qualified research or analytical work within one or more of the section's subject areas. The work requires solid knowledge of social science methodology. Experience in similar work within or on behalf of the public sector is an advantage.

The work requires good analytical skills and a structured approach. You also need to be flexible and resilient, as the work often requires you to quickly familiarize yourself with new issues and subject areas. Additionally, you need to be a skilled writer in both Swedish and English and able to present results to our clients in an educational manner.
