The Mediation Institute is an authority under the Ministry of Employment and is tasked with mediating in labor disputes, promoting a well-functioning wage formation, and being responsible for the official wage statistics. We are a small workplace with about fifteen employees, and our office is located in central Stockholm.

The Mediation Institute is seeking a Senior Economist

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the Mediation Institute's analysis of the macroeconomic conditions for wage formation and gather, compile, and interpret statistics that are significant for this.

As the responsible party, you have great opportunities to collaborate with the Director General to shape what the authority's analyses should contain and how they are presented to users. In your role, you will also have extensive contacts with qualified users such as the government, the Central Bank, the National Institute of Economic Research, actors in the financial market, and labor market parties.

You should have a good overview of the world, especially Europe, regarding wage development and other relevant indicators.

You will be responsible for the Mediation Institute's quarterly report “Wage Situation,” which compares Swedish wage development with that in Sweden's most important competitor countries based on internationally comparable wage statistics (LCI).

You will further contribute with analyses of the statistics in reports and other publication forms, and you will hold presentations for a wide range of users.

The Mediation Institute is the statistical authority, and you will contribute to the work of managing and developing statistics in the wage area together with the authority's statisticians and partners such as Statistics Sweden and Eurostat.

Since the Mediation Institute is a small organization, you will take on significant personal responsibility, and there are short paths to decision-making. This also means that you are flexible, appreciate taking overall responsibility, and have strong collaborative skills.

Qualifications:

· Education in economics.

· Several years of experience working with economic forecasts and analyses.

· Experience in processing large data sets using programming-based statistical software.

· Ability to express yourself clearly in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

Meritorious:

· Experience with the programs Eviews, Excel (advanced functions), and SAS (including analysis of microdata).

· Knowledge of and interest in the Swedish labor market model.

Start date and employment form:

The position is a permanent full-time employment (100%) with a start date as soon as possible or by agreement. The Mediation Institute applies individual salary setting and a six-month probationary period.

Application:

We look forward to receiving your application with a CV and cover letter via email to [email protected] no later than January 15, 2026. Please indicate case number 2025/140 in the subject line.
