Unit Economist at the National Home Guard Staff

For a two-year temporary position, the National Home Guard Staff (RHS) is seeking someone to work in a broad role as a unit economist and take overall responsibility in an interesting operation. You will work in an environment where new ideas are welcomed and gain a comprehensive insight into the economic management process of the Home Guard Combat Force.
Home Guard Combat Force
The Home Guard Combat Force is part of the Armed Forces, forming the foundation of the voluntary defense and is present throughout Sweden. The Home Guard Combat Force consists of a combat school, four military regions with staffs, regional training groups, home guard battalions, and territorial units.
RHS is currently part of the Headquarters. RHS is the central staff of the National Home Guard Commander to lead and direct the unit production of the Home Guard Combat Force. Approximately 60 employees are divided into three departments: Planning Department, Implementation Department, and Support Department.
About the Implementation Department
The Implementation Department consists of three sections: Implementation Section, Volunteer Section, and Monitoring and Analysis Section. The Monitoring and Analysis Section plays a central role as a strategic advisor in economics and simultaneously bears overall accountability for results. The section is also responsible for the Home Guard Combat Force's monitoring process. The section is characterized by team spirit, good collaboration, result focus, humility, and openness.
The Position Offers
As a unit economist, you will be part of the Monitoring and Analysis Section. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and following up on the staff's internal budget. The role requires careful collaboration with department heads, section heads, and other key stakeholders to ensure that the budget is well-planned, accurate, and followed up effectively.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Support staff members in reviewing invoices and invoice management
- Develop a detailed timeline for budgeting and follow-up work within the staff
- Collaborate with various departments and sections to ensure a coordinated budgeting process
- Follow up and analyze outcomes against the budget
- Prepare regular budget and forecast reports and present these to the staff management
- Support and take on varying tasks that may arise beyond the regular job description
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent education deemed suitable by the employer
- Current and relevant experience in similar tasks within a larger organization, preferably a government agency
- Excellent ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
- Good knowledge of MS Office
Meritorious
- Experience with SAP
- Experience in similar work within the Armed Forces
- Experience in project management
