Specialist in Financial Services at the Swedish National Debt Office
Do you want to contribute to the Swedish National Debt Office's work with financial services for government agencies alongside knowledgeable colleagues? Do you have experience working within a government agency or the financial sector? This is a position for you who want to become a specialist in how the financing of government operations works and work closely with the Debt Office's IT department on a complex IT system. We offer you
The State Internal Bank is a department within the Swedish National Debt Office. We ensure that government agencies have access to payment services and other financial services they need to manage their payments and appropriations as well as their loans and investments with the Debt Office. We procure payment services from banks, manage liquidity between the Debt Office and the contracted banks, and provide financial services through the State Internal Bank's own developed IT system.
You will be part of a small workgroup that collectively is responsible for maintaining the services we offer to government agencies through the State Internal Bank's IT system. Your work will include:
- Providing ongoing good service and advice to the agencies regarding their financial engagements with the Debt Office and their questions about the system.
- Conducting reconciliations and analyzing financial outcomes, flows, appropriations, and frameworks.
- Applying the regulations that govern the operations.
- Regularly checking that information in the system is updated correctly and troubleshooting and addressing issues when errors are discovered, in close collaboration with the Debt Office's IT department.
- Analyzing and specifying how the State Internal Bank's system and financial services should be designed.
- Testing that newly developed functions and updates to the system work according to requirements.
- Ensuring that there are routines and other documentation for the management of the system and the financial services.
The role is broad, encompassing work from analysis and specification to testing and advising. There is ample room for individual development and for influencing the development of the operations.
Your profile
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, or another academic education that the Debt Office considers equivalent.
- Experience working in a government agency or within the financial sector in a relevant role, such as in an accounting or auditing role.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Desirable qualifications:
- Experience with government accounting.
- Experience in the administration of loans and other financial services.
- Knowledge of the State Internal Bank's operations.
- Knowledge of the government budget process and financing of government operations.
To succeed in this position, you need to be service-oriented, curious, and driven by a desire to learn how things work and solve problems. You also need to have a good ability to work in a structured manner and take initiative. The work requires close collaboration with colleagues in the department and at the Debt Office. Therefore, it is important that you enjoy collaborating with others and can drive work forward while involving others. You need to be skilled at absorbing and sharing knowledge both orally and in writing.

Financial holdings
As an employee of the Swedish National Debt Office, you are required to report your holdings of financial instruments. To hold shares in a bank as an employee of the Debt Office, special permission is required.
Security classified position
As an employee at the Debt Office, you may be placed in a war position based on the needs of total defense. Certain roles are classified for security, and Swedish citizenship may therefore be a requirement. If the position is classified, a background check will also be conducted. A security assessment will be carried out before a hiring decision is made.
