Investigator in Bio-Risks

We are seeking a PhD in medicine with a dissertation in microbiology and extensive documented experience in bio-risks. Your work will focus on national and international projects aimed at capacity building in the bio-risk area. Welcome to be part of our team!

What will you work with?

The main tasks of the position include providing expert support in the operational coordination of the agency's safety laboratories. The role also includes contributing knowledge support in internal and external matters related to the management of bio-risks, focusing on national and international projects aimed at capacity building in the field of bio-risks.

In addition to the main tasks, regular duties for investigators at the agency are also included.

Who are we looking for?

Requirements for employment:

  • Extensive and well-documented experience in bio-risks.
  • PhD with a dissertation in microbiology.
  • Documented experience working in international capacity-building projects.
  • Documented experience conducting courses and training on bio-risk management in laboratory environments.

Great emphasis is placed on:

  • Personal qualities such as good collaboration skills, responsibility, and attention to detail. You have a holistic perspective and a good approach.
  • Experience of laboratory microbiological work in an accredited laboratory.
  • Several years of documented experience working in or in connection with safety laboratories at biosafety levels 3 and 4.
  • Experience conducting documented risk assessments for pathogens in risk classes 3 and 4.
  • Experience working with training and educating staff in connection with microbiological laboratories.
  • Experience working in a government agency.

Emphasis is placed on:

  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

What does the unit do?

The Bio-Preparedness Unit coordinates the department's work with crisis preparedness and civil defense. The unit houses the agency's bio-risk function, which provides internal and external knowledge support in the bio-risk area. The unit is also responsible for coordinating the department's work in global health security.

About the Employment

You will be employed as an investigator based at our office in Solna. The position is a temporary appointment at 20 percent of full-time until 2026-12-31. Start date will be as soon as possible by agreement.

As an employee of the Public Health Agency of Sweden, you may be subject to military placement. Certain positions are placed in a security class where Swedish citizenship may be a requirement. A security review will then be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

At the agency, there may be an opportunity to enter into an agreement for remote work of up to 40 percent of your working time.
