At Östergården, which is a non-profit organization within Bräcke diakoni, we provide children and young people with disabilities a safe and developing everyday life with school, community, and leisure. We are now looking for new colleagues who want to be part of our dedicated team.

Your role

As a habilitation assistant, you make a real difference in the children's daily lives. You are a safe adult who contributes to participation, development, and joy. You can work in two different areas:

• Units for NPF - Here you meet children with neuropsychiatric disabilities. The focus is on structure, safety, predictability, and participation - with AAC and clarifying pedagogy as important supports.
• Units for multiple disabilities - Here you support children who need both physical care and medical supervision. You work closely with the child in a staff-intensive team around care, training, communication, and social activities.

Your responsibilities include:

• providing support during important moments in daily life such as meals, training, personal care, and leisure activities,
• building communication using AAC and clarifying pedagogy,
• being a contact person and collaborating with parents and networks,
• collaborating with support educators, nurses, and habilitation teams,
• contributing to the development of the organization together with colleagues.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is secure, responsible, and attentive to children's individual needs. You easily build good relationships and can actively participate in adapting the children's daily lives, both regarding routines, communication, and support measures. You provide care with heart, but always with professional distance.

We are looking for someone who has:

• education in care and support or disability support (e.g., nursing assistant or support assistant),
• knowledge of AAC, clarifying pedagogy, and/or low-arousal approaches,
• experience with social documentation,
• good computer skills - ability to handle emails and document in digital systems,
• good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as reading comprehension.

Meritorious is:

• experience working with people with disabilities, within LSS and/or with children and young people,
• handling respiratory aids or tube feeding.

About the residence

Östergården is a residence where children and young people with disabilities can grow with the support of safe adults. They have their own rooms and share common areas where we play, socialize, and build a daily life where relationships have time to grow. Together, we work closely with each child to create days where small steps mean a lot and where they feel valuable and empowered in their independence.
