Flight Test Engineer at Saab

Your Role

Saab is now looking for a Flight Test Engineer for our Flight Test organization for Special Mission and Regional Aircraft.

As a Flight Test Engineer, you will be part of our Flight Test section and work on testing our aircraft designed by Special Mission and Regional Aircraft, including GlobalEye, Saab 340, and Saab 2000.

Your tasks include preparation, execution, and reporting of ground and flight tests in our test aircraft. The work involves close contacts within Saab with our Design Department, Airworthiness Office, and Maintenance Organization. Contacts outside of Saab may also occur.

The testing activities involve translating a testing need into a test program, defining the necessary measurement system, developing a test plan that describes how the test will be conducted, leading the flight test onboard the aircraft, on the ground, or in the air, and evaluating and reporting the test results. The work is independent and requires both knowledge and initiative, as well as many contacts with design engineers, hangar technicians, and test pilots. The work is a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical work.

The position is located in Linköping, and travel may occur.

Your Profile

We value your personal drive and ambition to contribute to building a functioning team that can continue to deliver test results aimed at developing our Special Mission aircraft and managing upgrades of Saab's regional aircraft fleet. It is important to note that the role requires flexibility and good adaptability, and perhaps most importantly, that you value working in a team where the collective result is very central.

The work also includes an internal training program for flight test engineers. Training abroad at a recognized flight test school may be relevant.

You are a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree engineer in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. Interest and knowledge in Matlab and Python are advantageous as the work also involves some method development work. A genuine interest in aviation may seem obvious but is also a merit.

Good language skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, are required.
